Pleather Jacket - it's a 'No' isn't it?

DD was hankering after one (I was Shock she normally has good taste)

I told her (in my best Mum-Advice Tones) that they were nasty not flattering, very sweaty and she should Google a picture of Cliff Richards in his trousers and jacket combo if she wanted evidence.
Even a vegetarian like me just wouldn't.

AIBU ?

You are 100% right.
She'll thank you for it in the long run

My dd has one from Topshop like this. It looks great. They must be popular as they usually sell out pretty quickly.

I have one that looks like really soft, expensive leather. It was £30 from Asda Grin

I did buy her a cotton jacket (zips./press studs like a biker but heavy cotton) that she can wear now.
I'm decent that way Wink

I have a lovely pleather jacket. It wasn't cheap - but it is lovely. It feels and looks like leather.

I wear leather shoes usually, but don't really like the idea of a cow hide covering my top half. ??

DD (13) has one. It was a hand-me-down from her cousin. It is vile and disgusting in my opinion, but she loves it. She wore it to her grandfathers funeral last month. She and her cousins (16 and 18) looked like three biker chicks sitting in the front row.

I remember years and years ago having a pair of mock leather trousers...and OMG talk about sweaty euggggghhhh never EVER again! As for a jacket, i think they can look quite real. its not the look for me of pleather its more the heat aspect. They are totally unbreathable and unbearable to wear.

I have no issue with pleather (I have pleather bags and pleather shoes as well as canvas ones) but it would be like wearing a skin tight wetsuit .

We are having temperatures of 30c and she wants to wrap herself up in a glorified binbag

It wasn't a nice one trust me !

It is too hot for any kind of jacket at the moment! Fine for the Autumn/Winter though.

Is there a more unpleasant word than 'pleather'?

No.

Saying it makes me shudder.
