Has anyone else had this problem with Bravissimo bras?

I am a size 10 but have quite big boobs, and about 3 months ago I had a fitting at Bravissimo. I was told I was a 30G, and ended up buying two bras.

I have to admit, when fitted I didn't take a huge amount of notice other than that they were comfy-ish and the fabric covered my boobs.

However, even though I've always thought that a properly fitting bra makes you look slimmer, I have found that the 2 bras make me look bigger.

Firstly they push my boobs right up, giving me a very buxom look, and because they are pushed up so much it makes my decolletage, shoulders, upper arms and upper back all look quite fat. It's like anything from my boobs has just been pushed right up. It makes me look really large in my tops.

Secondly the band has started really creating a 'shelf' under my boobs, and hence making my tummy stick out and giving me a really weird shape. After wearing either of the bras it takes a good 24 hours for the 'shelf' to go, and for my tummy to look flat under my boobs again.

I'm so cross as the bras weren't cheap, and I've now taken to wearing support crop tops from Primark instead, which make me look loads slimmer and don't give me the weird sticking out tummy. I have to wear one every other day anyway because of the bra 'shelf' bit remaining.

Has anyone else had this problem with bras? I'm presuming that I was fitted incorrectly in Bravissimo?

They always seem to fit them really really tight around the back. I've had some that were really uncomfy. The Bravissimo fitter I had last time said that if you have any problems you should take them back because they don't always get it totally right. I had 1 I just couldn't wear and didn't return it. The fitter said I should have done. So if you're not happy with the fit then I'd go back and explain what the problems are.

I do find that my boobs do look bigger in theirs because they really do lift things up a lot. But I don't mind that because I have droopy boobs and they look worse if not given some oomph. Definitely don't do what I did and right it off though. At £30+ it's a lot.

They offer a money back scheme so if you not happy do take them back.

I could have written your post! I've had the 'shove it all in and push it all up' experience there too. I also have the shelf issue!

However when I was pregnant they did a good j

Bollocks!

... They did a good job and I had a couple of good bras that weren't too pretty but did a good job.

I really miss La Senza though Blush. If you ignored the sizes they tried to put you in and worked our your own based on shape/design, they had some good bras. Some horrors too, mind!

Karbea · 18/07/2014 21:01

I had some lovely 28 bras from la senza. I don't really understand why they went bust.

Thanks so much everyone for the replies;it's good to know that I'm not the only one with these problems.

Would I be able to take the bras back after 3 months, or have I left it too long to return them?

I definitely agree that they fit the bras very tightly. I feel almost as if the bra sections off my body, and then my boobs end up hoiked up so high that I can put my chin on them if I move my head forwards. I'm thinking that perhaps I don't really need underwiring? I prefer the minimised boob look rather than the buxom milkmaid look that these bras are giving me Grin

If you are near a store and it is not too much of a hassle I would definitely go and talk to their manager personally. If it was out of my way and three months later I perhaps would not bother.

antimatter · 19/07/2014 01:09

I would say that with well fitted bra that is to be expected.
Your boobs were squashed before and perhaps pushed under your arms.

Ask someone to take your photo for you because what you are seeing is the image in the mirror not how you really look.

Also some of your current clothes my not fit well due to change of their shape.

BrazilNil · 19/07/2014 21:30

In photos it makes my shape look odd too

Which bras did you buy? There are some which are far more "shove em up" than others, but it's a style thing rather than fit. Also, which hook are you fastening on?

BrazilNil · 20/07/2014 18:42

I can't remember the names of the bras, I'm out at the moment but I'll have a look on the labels when I get home.

I fasten them on the loosest fitting

Same if I wear my 'proper' size my boobs enter the room first and I look huge in all my clothes.

whereisshe · 20/07/2014 18:56

I found that the bravissimo fitter had the straps of the bra tighter than I felt comfortable with. Have you tried loosening the straps?
