Hair help, please

I'm coming up to 46, and I colour my hair. I started to go grey very early, at about 21, and have been colouring it ever since.

I had really long hair that I cut off about 14 years ago in a fit of frustration when DD was a baby (I used to wear it loose and it fell into a dirty nappy once too often). Big mistake.

It's almost a shoulder length bob, but I'm finding it doesn't grow very fast any more, and because I do a lot of swimming now the top layer in particular is turning straw like.

I'd be grateful for some general advice on improving the condition of my hair and if there's anything I can do to improve the growth rate.

I'm not sure anout growth rate but I frazzled my hair quite badly and started using coconut oil. I found it really helped the condition. I used it on my skin now aswell.

For a deep treament I would run in through all of my hair, tie it up and sleep on it.
For a hot oil treatment I would fill a sink full of hot water (coconut oil comes solid and melts when you touch it) i would cover my hair with clingfilm then hot towel my hair.
And for everyday I would pull it through my hair, leave for 10 mind and then shampoo and condition

WalkWithTheLonelyOnes Thanks for that, I'll give it a try.
