Due to lack of money I can't go to the salon anymore. A friend has offered to do it for me at home, which I've never tried. Can anyone recomend a particular one to try please, or any tips?

I've used the garnier nutrisse highlighting kit a few times with good results. I'd suggest getting a highlighting cap and hook from amazon unless your friend is quite experienced (I don't think they come with the dye but I could be wrong).

DONT DO IT!!! (flashbacks to very bad diy highlights and embarrassing hairdresser begging phone calls and trips the same week) lol

Seriously if you have to do it, get someone to give you a hand

I used l'oreal ones yesterday. I brush it on rather than use the cap because my hair is short.

Thanks. It has to be done! A friend is doing it for me though. I'm Pretty nervous...

I usually use Garnier multilights which you brush on. I tried the L'Oreal Glam one with the big fork shape brush last night which has turned out ok.

Ooh, I wanted to know more about the new L'oriel one.

Wierd shape brush and didn't appear to put much product on but obviously it was enough as I only left it on for the minimum time and it's a lovely bright blond without being brassy or yellow. My hair did seem really dry after I did it but once dried and style looks fine. Will give it a good condition on the next few washes.

I use any of the ones you get in Boots. They come with a highlighting cap and crochet hook thing. I have always had goodish results - nothing like going to the hairdresser but does the job between visits.

Thanks Vegas will give it a go in the future.

Let us know how your get on

Thanks. I'm a bit nervous actually. It's currently bleached quite highlighted but I wonder also about going back to my original colour (brown). Could I stick a normal dye over it or will it go green or orange or something?
