I am on a very tight budget and the wedding is very posh.

Does this look too cheap?

I saw this yesterday and thought it looked really lovely and looked much more expensive than for the price

trikken · 15/07/2014 14:18

Hmm

trikken · 15/07/2014 14:18

fatedtopretend · 15/07/2014 14:18

That's lovely, I can't really pull off patterns though as I'm quite sallow.

DP will be wearing navy if that helps with colours!

Hmm its ok. I think there are nicer dresses for the price. Im not a fan of the cut out sidey bits.

fatedtopretend · 15/07/2014 14:29

I don't mind the style, it's more the shiny material that bothered me.

I can get away with odd arms/necklines as I have no boobs.

I really like the style, but agree about the fabric. Block colours really shows up cheaper fabric.

You say you can't wear patterns - are you sure? This ASOS looks great in the runway vid and would be fab with a red lip.

Whistles has a couple of good things in the sale - sizes are limited on line but they have a lot of stock in their stores, and their system is such that they can see where it is and post to you. This one or this one?

fatedtopretend · 15/07/2014 14:48

Thanks-love the coral whistles one, will have a check for a size 8 anywhere.

Will have to get some heavy duty foundation to cover my skin though with such a bright colour (fake tan allergy).

fatedtopretend · 15/07/2014 14:59

This could be easier to pull off with my paleness?

OP posts:
rootypig · 15/07/2014 15:01

That one is lovely, yes! I really like muted, dusky colours at weddings.

Re whistles, if you're a size 8 usually, size down to a 6 at least, possibly a 4. Their vanity sizing or love of boxiness is crazy.

TessTackle · 15/07/2014 15:04

Love the second one. It's beautiful.

fatedtopretend · 15/07/2014 15:08

I know what you mean with vanity sizing-I never normally buy online-especially when I have little time for that reason.

Will keep hunting after dd is in bed and see if I see any others-will have I order more than one and just keep the best fitting Hmm

Good luck - I hate wedding clothes shopping. Also have one in a few weeks and wondering if I can wear this with this. Think I must concede defeat and admit I can't Grin

fatedtopretend · 15/07/2014 15:12

That would be an awesome outfit, I'd go for it Smile

rootypig · 15/07/2014 15:17

Really?!!?? don't encourage me. Stakes are high as significant ex will be there. Have seen him several times and we are on good terms, and I am now married with DD, so am relaxed at the thought. But at the same time I want to look perfect and excellent and cool. Ha.

fatedtopretend · 15/07/2014 15:32

Seriously-I like bold! If I had a tan at the moment I would go for something like that instead of a boring block colour. I'm just so pasty it's embarrassing and both of DPs exes will be at this wedding Hmm

rootypig · 15/07/2014 15:35

Wedding ex wardrobe dilemmas! hilarious Smile. I don't have the arms and back for the floaty ASOS dress but if I did, I would - it's a knock out.

trikken · 15/07/2014 16:08

Love the pale green one.

jimmybim · 15/07/2014 16:24

If you like bold colours how about
this?

fatedtopretend · 15/07/2014 16:46

Jimmy, my friend is wearing that one to the wedding-I may get in trouble if I wear the same!

OP posts:
jimmybim · 15/07/2014 16:49

Oh no, I live in dread of turning up at a wedding wearing the same dress as someone else!

fatedtopretend · 15/07/2014 20:11

I'm torn between this and the green pleated floaty one.

Most of the people there will be in bodycon without a doubt and I don't want to show dp up by going too against the grain.

OP posts:
rootypig · 15/07/2014 21:15

Pish, bodycon is over.

They're both great. The grey bow back is really elegant. Though have just seen that the green one isn't available in your size, so that could be the decision made.

fatedtopretend · 15/07/2014 21:19

Oh crap! How did I not see that? Now I obviously need the green one and am going hunting for dupes Hmm

OP posts:
rootypig · 15/07/2014 21:31

I always do that on ASOS. Go back and forth, then they don't have my size after all. Have learned the hard way to check!
