what body shape am I?

Sounds silly but I am just not sure - can you help as I'm after new jeans and a knockout dress and would love to know what bodyshape I am so I can start with the clothes that in theory should flatter.
I always thought I was a pear because I have chunky thighs and calves, although my bottom and hips are not especially wide. Then my boobs went up a cup size and I spent some time wondering if I was a curvy, but have decided my waist isn't thin enough. So final option I think is that I am a sporty, but I don't feel thin enough to be in that category...
On case photo doesn't come out I am 5'7, size 12-14, 36c.
Would be very grateful if anyone could help. For example jersey wrap dresses that are often recommended look rubbish on me because they just seem to stick to my lumpy thighs. I can't go too short on dress length because too much thigh is on show. Maxi dresses work but I am a bit bored of how they make me feel shapeless.

I was measured when a stylist told me my shape -- hips; waist; bust. So measurements would help.

bouncinbean · 12/07/2014 13:51

36 bust
31 waist
38 hips

Hourglass with pear tendencies.

Try dresses just above your knee and see what you think.

Greengardenpixie · 12/07/2014 15:30

Your hips are bigger than your waist and you have a neat waist so i would say you are more pear shaped.

F4ttyBumBum · 12/07/2014 15:35

I'd love a body like yours - you look very fit.

Look at this I'd say the cello? because although you have a waist you have broadish shoulders

strongandlong · 12/07/2014 15:35

You need a bra intervention. if your bust is 36, you can't be a 36c. what's your underbust measurement?

I'd call your shape hourglass. not enough difference between bust and hips to count as pear shaped, but I'm no expert!

I'm on the app, so can't see the photo..

i'm glad its not just me and that we have votes for pear and hourglass Wink

F4tty - that is very kind and that page just makes it even more confusing by adding in so many shapes - goblet, hourglass, cello and pear all seem to fit a bit! I did the calculator and it suggested brick.

Strongandlong - I've found my bras by trial and error and 36c's seem to give me the nicest shape, support and I don't have horrible bulgy bits along the back. I'm 1 year post baby and just put on old bras and they seem to fit nicely so I've stuck with them. My underbust is 31 and the fullest part is 36. I do remember one place telling me I should be something like a 32DD but it just felt nasty and tight on my back and what was in the cups just flopped around rather than being held nicely. I haven't got much faith in what assistants in shops tell me when they seem to have a vested interest in selling me a bra as quick as possible when I can clearly see it looks wrong (sorry - went into a whole bra rant there!)

It seems like a combination of hourglass and pear but its so confusing. Off to read a bit more on that site - any other comments very welcome.
