Anyone use Revlon ColorStay foundation?

The majority of reviews are really good on the Boots website but I wanted to hear your opinions. I've been suckered in by good reviews before only to find the product to be rubbish!

My skin is oily round the T-zone but can get a bit flakey round the nose and nostril area. Also I have rosacea so my cheeks and nose have a light pinkish tone. I'm also super pale.

I've been using Estee Lauder DW for about a year after the bastards discontinued DW Camouflage and while the shade (Shell) is perfect, my skin is super shiny after about two hours despite using a powder over the top. Also it's quite pricey although it lasts me months so that's not too much of a problem.

Anyone use the palest shade Ivory? Does it go oxidise and go orangey after a while?

It does get good reviews and I tried it as a cheaper alternative to Double Wear. I have similar(ish) sounding skin to you but without the rosacea and am also very pale and it was too dark for me, also yellow based and I generally need pink based. Apart from that, I found it... 'bitty' when applied, I didn't get the smooth finish I was used to with DW, it just didn't seem to blend properly for me so I regretfully gave up on it. That's my experience but many many people rave about it so It's definitely worth giving it a go as it's so cheap in comparison to DW.

Thank you. DW took a bit of getting used to when I first got it but once I got the hang on it, it does go on perfectly smooth. Just a shame I get so shiny and greasy with it!

I think I need to pop in store and see what Ivory is like up close. I've wasted too much money online only to find the palest shade is still yellow/orange!

It's worth a try although if you get dry patches it will really cling to them. And it smells a bit like paint if I remember rightly.

It is very similar to DW though so if you like the finish of that I'd give it a go.

DW Shell and the Revlon Ivory are v similar shades both being too pale for me but the next shade up is too dark

I have a cool skintone and also dread the orange...

Oh yeah, and I recently bought a few sample pot things off eBay (cheap) and merrily went round Boots taking a squirt of foundation from the testers to try at home in proper lighting.

No one seemed to mind was expecting to be told off

I have used it in the past - It does not shift, takes some serious removing. It was ok for my combination skin but a bit drying in the winter. It was actually pretty good for the price.

ophiotaurus · 12/07/2014 12:32

I switched from DW to mac studio finish fluid and find it's much better for staying power and staying matte.
Not tried revlon so can't comment.

RonaldMcDonald · 12/07/2014 12:50

I love it. I am oily and sensitive.
I didn't get on with doublewear. I use it over MAC prep and prime

Walnut8 · 12/07/2014 12:53

Revlon c/s shades are generally quite neutral (not too yellow or pink). I love it & also have combo skin.
I've tried eldw & found it too cakey, drying and ghostly in photos. Also ageing ... Actually pretty crap compared to revlon!

DesperateHousewife21 · 12/07/2014 15:46

I got mine off ebay so was a few £ less.
I got normal/ dry skin one in 'buff' and its v good for my pale dry skin Grin

DomesticSlobbess · 12/07/2014 16:48

Thanks for all your advice!

I've bitten the bullet and just ordered one in Ivory from eBay for £8.99! Hope it's as good as most of you say or I'm holding you accountable

For those who mentioned MAC, it hates my skin! I love the coverage of Studio Fix Fluid and NC15 matches me perfectly but it irritates my skin and makes my rosacea go angry and bright red! And it gives me a spotty chin Sad

I love the stuff. I have dry bits and actually prefer the oily formula one. I apply with a damp beauty blender.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 12/07/2014 19:53

According to google NC20 is Buff in colour stay and NW 15 is ivory which might be too warm for your skin.
