Primark parka in a pocket

Got caught in the rain this morning, so ducked into Primark and bought a raincoat for £9. Doesn't look obviously cheap/crap, the hood is really roomy (unlike a lot of raincoats) and you can fold it into one of its pockets and zip it up to put in your bag when not in use. Already thinking it might be my best buy of the summer so far! Thought I'd share in case others here want an alternative to grappling with an umbrella :)

I've just bought Dd (3yo) one. Feels lovely for the money.

Myfanwyprice · 11/07/2014 16:47

I got a lovely flowery one from there a few years ago and still love it, definitely a good buy!

weyayechickenpie · 11/07/2014 16:48

Yep I have one. I have worn in nearly everyday its the blue one with stars on I love mine.

VeryStressedMum · 11/07/2014 16:50

I have this in black Smile

monsterowl · 11/07/2014 16:59

Happy that someone else got the black as I was beginning to feel that I should have been more adventurous :D

DD1 (13) has a black one, and loves it.

I actually managed to get a teenager into a raincoat!

Purplewithred · 11/07/2014 22:59

I've got a black and white jazzy one, love it, absolute bargain.

yazzy85 · 11/07/2014 23:24

What's the sizing like on these?? Would size 8/10 be a small or xs??

MsBug · 11/07/2014 23:25

I have one but I don't like the hood, it's too big.

itstheyearzero · 11/07/2014 23:50

Wait until its raining and windy. The bloody hood is so big and flappy it won't stay on your head! I binned mine after a particularly wet ans windy_school run. Now the proud owner of a Regatta mac in a bag. Be warned!!

BerniceBroadside · 11/07/2014 23:57

They're not very waterproof either. Fine for a light shower, but get soaked through in anything heavier.

RockCrushesLizard · 12/07/2014 02:13

They aren't waterproof!

I got caught in the rain yesterday, parka on, no bother I thought, but the rain went straight through to my t shirt, in the time it took me to walk into tesco from the car park. Not a great look, and rubbish waterproofing. Hmm

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 12/07/2014 13:49

I got the Navy blue one with flamingoes on, tis well cool Grin no idea if it keeps the rain off it says showerproof but yet to try it.

yazzy85 · 12/07/2014 16:49

hmm any better alternatives if these r not waterproof??

ZaraW · 12/07/2014 18:13

I have a water proof poncho from www.rain-wave.com they are great. Their website is currently sold out but you can buy them on E Bay.

monsterowl · 12/07/2014 21:28

I only got caught in a shower in mine (not heavy rain) and it was fine. Wouldn't use it as a routine rainy day coat, more something to keep in my bag as an alternative to umbrellas (which I hate!). I like the big hood! I find most hoods on coats too small.

Dare I ask how much these are?

I spent £25 on a next version .....

monsterowl · 12/07/2014 21:32

Yikes ZaraW, those rain wave ones are a bit pricey Shock
