Shoes for a Roman holiday

I'm going to Rome in October and will be doing lot of walking around seeing the sights etc. I'd like some comfy, flat, non-frumpy shoes that aren't my usual -fake- converse that will look nice with skinny jeans. Stylish would be a bonus. Oh, and the moon on a stick please Grin

Have a look at Geox shoes. They have a very Italian look so you'll fit in well, and IME they are very comfortable, with well-cushioned soles. John Lewis sell them, and there are Geox shops.

Make sure the sole is not too thin. My feet always ache after a day in Rome and I can feel every bump in the cobbles!

Just back from a week in a Rome & I wore a pair of light grey Toms nearly every day. Goes with skinnys, skirts, dresses, shorts (& I was doubtful but not really 'studenty'). Light & comfy & we walked 100s of cobbles. I was shocked how well they've lasted

Go to Rome quite regularly and just to second the recommendation that you really must have thick soles - the cobbles everywhere are picturesque but very hard on the feet - as are the ancient ruins. I have worn various Fitflop sandals and shoes there which are great at coping with this.

Was also going to recommend the Italian brand Geox shoes which I first discovered in Italy - they have several shops in Central Rome but you probably need to break in whatever you wear before going. They have stores here now plus a website. They have a very good sale at moment- 59% off virtually everything.
