Lanacane anti-chafe and breakouts?

After all the rave reviews I bought some Lanacane to use as a primer and though it's performance seemed to be great, about 4 days later I got a couple of painful spots on my cheeks - bumps under the skin without a head, which are not going anywhere. Just recently I had a similar reaction to Revlon Photoready, which was why I chucked that in the bin, and the spots were really hard to shift - in fact I still have a little bump where one was.

Is this a common reaction to Lanacane? If anyone else has had it, did you eventually find a primer that worked? My huge pores need something doing!

It doesn't make me react and I have stupidly sensitive skin. Shame because it's fab stuff

Have used it quite a bit but no reaction. I guess all these things are individual though.

Tesco Barbara daly primer is my fav. In a tiny pot xnd like velvet!

Oh, should say I've only used it on my thighs - use Laura Mercier primer on my face, when I bother.

Maybe it's not the primers brassica, are you cleaning it off properly?

Sorry if that's not the case, but I find that the cleanser step is the one that gives me breakouts if I amn't totally scrupulous and diligent?

Could be a reaction to the silicone in the products, some people seem to react to that

I have skin that reacts to loads and Lanacane has been fine.

I think using silicon based products every day isn't good for your skin. They're very heavy.

It's the silicones - I have the same reaction.

Same happened to me, I was using for a while before the bumps appeared, bur after a few weeks of stopping they went.
I am now using Rimmel Fix & protect primer without any problems - 'tis good.

Thanks for the responses - I thought it might be silicones too. I'd say my cleansing routine is pretty good, I've been doing hot cloth cleansing for a couple of months and always follow up with toning lotion, my skin feels clean. Will have to check out some other primers - have looked for Barbara Daly but my local store doesn't have it. Managed to use Lancome La Base OK though it wasn't as good at oil control, and ditto for No 7 primer. The search for the holy grail goes on!

I think they use silicones for oil control unfortunately.
I haven't found one that I can use on my chin without breakouts...

If your problem is oiliness and lasting performance maybe try Revlon color stay foundation without the primer? It just needs a good moisturiser under it, primer not necessary IMO.

Korres has a silicone free primer. It also looks like the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer is silicone free.

The oil free version of the Foundation Primer does contain silicone, but it's further down the ingredient list. It might be that you're fine with smaller amounts of silicone but that your skin doesn't like too much of it.

If you struggle with very oily skin, you might want to have a look at your skin care regime. I know many people who have used too harsh products and that has caused the skin to produce even more oil. Using products for dehydrated (the skin needs moisture, not oil) instead can help loads.

For those painful spots that just sit under the skin, I recommend Avene TriAcneal. I use it on the specific areas before bedtime when I have large spots and it really helps.
