Anyone else get insanely itchy eyes

I start off the day with a bit of eyeliner and mascara on, by midday one or both my eyes start itching madly and although I try my best not to, nothing relieves it more than a good eye rub. Then hello red rimmed pandaeyes! I think it's mild hayfever or some other allergy. What can I do - eye drops?

I get this with hay fever or cats. My best solution is to get eye drops, or saline solution, and drop 5-10 drops over the surface of the eye, which seems to rinse the allergens off.

And DO NOT RUB! It feels so good at the time, I totally get it, but when you rub it not only makes them all red etc, but it leaves them more irritable the next day, so you get caught in a cycle (discovered this when I rubbed only one eye, and it was it hire than the other one for days afterwards).

I sometimes treat myself to a little eye rub in the shower though!

Rinse and don't rub, anti histamines if it's bad Smile

I just can't not rub them though, its impossible! Thanks, I will get some saline drops.

I know how impossible it is not to rub - I've been known to allow myself a set time of rubbing (eg just for five seconds) to try to limit it!

It really is a vicious cycle, the more you rub, the more they itch the next day. Hence pills and rinses!

The rinsing reduces it enough that I can generally resist the rub, which helps break the cycle. And you can't over rinse - err on the side of lots of drops...
