BB cream

I'm low on foundation and was wondering if BB cream might be worth trying instead. From what I understand it offers a bit of coverage but isn't as heavy or thick as foundation - is this right?

What brands are good? My complexion is essentially good (I don't really need cover up) and I prefer a "dewy" look over a matt one.

I wear Sanctuary's light completion one, i have never worn foundation as hate my skin feeling covered and claggy. The Sanctuary bb cream is very light on the skin and feels lovely, I would recommend it.

Botanics from Boots is raved about on here and I've been really pleased with it since buying it on that recommendation.

It's light but long-wearing and sort of airbrushes my face without covering my freckles or being visible on my skin.

erborian is my favourite! light cover, minimises pores, dewy skin.

I like full coverage but have been wearing Tzone bb cream. It's fantastic and buildable. It's not yellow like a lot of bb creams and I apply it with a brush.

It's only a pound in the pound shop and I prefer it above expensive brands.

I second boots botanic. I got it when it was half price and its lasted for aaaages!

its so good for those days when a full on face isnt necessary or you're low on time and you can choose if you just want a v thin layer or build it up more.

I like the clinique CC cream (which is pretty much the exact same thing as BB cream). It has factor 40, is good for sensitive skin, it lasts really well, and even though it's very light, it gives a nice even coverage (well, and even tint!) without any effort whatsoever.

I also bought Boots Botanics following recommendations on here - it's very good in fact I prefer it to Chantecaille and Laura Mercier which cost about seven times more. But I'm pale and like medium best because it comes up very pale.

Could you post a link to the botanics bb cream please? Thanks

I like the Estee Lauder DayWear BB cream a lot, but I do generally find that BB and CC creams are very similar to tinted moisturisers.

The Estee Lauder BB cream is great for just evening out my skin and I seem to get compliments about how good my skin looks when I wear this. I have it in light which is quite dark - I can only wear it if I've got a tan. The colour is similar to Mac NC20-25, Diorskin Nude in 20, Bourjois 52, Estee Lauder Double Wear Light in Intensity 2.0.

It is very sheer, looks great on the skin and lasts very well. It has a dewy finish - I usually powder over it as I have oily skin.
The texture is a bit thicker so I find that it looks best if applied with fingers instead of a brush. I use an amount roughly half the size of a pea for my face, so it seems to last forever.

I've found that tinted moisturisers come in several shades, whereas the BB/CC creams come in only a few shades (and they are usually too dark for me). So if you find that the shades aren't right for you, a tinted moisturiser might be an option. I really like Laura Mercier's tinted moisturiser (I have the oil free version).

I also have the Botanics one in medium after it was recommended on here. For the summer I've been mixing a blob of it in with my normal day cream for really light coverage. Just gives a nice sheer look and evens up my skin tone.
