Fat woman in bikini

I think Im going to get one.

Years ago, I went on holiday by myself to Corfu. I was slim but didn't think it. Anyway, the beach was full of German women, big women. All in bikinis.

Did they care that they had belly fat? Did they care their boobs were skimming their knees? Did they fuck?

Did they have fun? Oh yes.

Did I have fun in my sports cut one piece? Nope.

So I plan to be a German woman this summer. Yes I'm fat (size 16) but I plan to wear a two piece.

Anyone have any ideas? I've seen a big knicker one in Next.

Well maybe Clare my own garden. But you never know there might be an unseasonable hot day in July.

Or I could wear it on the camping trip to Sussex.

Blue, well I'm blue anyway. Only one? I don't need the fat Germans anymore...

Go for it op, I just bought a bikini, two actually one tankini from bravissimo and another one a proper bikini I saw linked to on mnet. It's fab!

I am a size 12, in the process of losing weight/toning up after stopping running, I have started running again but I just thought fuck it, yes I am wobbly and not 'media body perfect' but I am me and have had five kids and I will wear a bikini, even if it's just on the beaches in Norfolk and Wales!

Fuck it feeling brave, me in my bikini, not a great pic.

I am not fat but I am nearer 50 than 40.

I'm a 16 and I am definitely fat. I don't have good legs either - lucky you. I like to draw the eye upwards if possible!

I do wish you could see what the bikinis look like on flabby bellies etc, all the models are so slender it is difficult to imagine what they look like on my lumpy, wobbly body, if the belly will overhang etc.

Wear that bikini!

I am 40 and have had 3cs. Size10/12, Boobs in good nick but tummy is wobbly, convex, lined and scarred with stretch marks , loose skin. It's like a lovely soft blancmange.

Fuck it.

I wear my bikini with pride.

Anyway, not in stock in JL, but I wonder if this sea folly bikini might be quite sturdy yet attractive?

"16 doesn't always mean fat and is the national average."

This gets trotted out frequently. 16 is the national average because we are an overweight nation. Just because it is the norm, doesn't mean anything.

YAY FOR YOU!!!

I got my bikini body out in Friday. Meaning that I put a bikini on my overweight, wobbly body and that was it whilst I baked cakes and drunk wine!!! Grin

I have epic (read enormous) boobs, my best bikinis are from bravissimo and (I kid you not!) sainsburys!!!

Choose something you think is pretty. I ignore my black bikinis and prefer my bright ones despite the fact that my body is FAR from perfect! Grin

I am in my 20s, a 14/16 and at 5'10 I am fat. I have always wanted to wear a bikini (or tbh anything above the knee) but I've always been afraid to.

Go and wear a bikini with pride. I'm going to wear an above-knee dress tomorrow in solidarity Grin

I am so gutted that I spent my size 12 years in a fucking swimsuit. Why oh why?

I'm now a size 14 with major muffin top etc and will wear a bikini come hell or high water because they just feel so ace.

I was never going to be a 'two triangles on a string' woman, so I bought a stunning bikini in my bra size from Freya. It was truly revelatory. The swimwear equivalent of a lovely, flattering bra.

My top tip is buy bigger bottoms than you think you need, even if they look laughably massive. When you put them on and they don't dig in anywhere you'll thank me.

To the person who said that a one peice is more practical, can I ask why? I can't think of any way in which it's more practical.

Go for it Changebags. I did last year (size 14/16) and was very happy that I had. No one batted an eyelid and I stood out much less than my much slimmer friend in her one piece.

Oops, seeing to ds and that went before I'd finished.
She looks an 8/10 another friend is 5'11 and is a size 16 but looks a size 12.
I'm a 16 but people always think I a 14 at most because I'm 5'8
Build and height make a difference.
The most important thing is how you feel IMO.
I've always been bigger than my sister and friends but happy and confidant which I think shines through the most.

"Build and height make a difference."

I agree, which is why stating that size 16 is the average is meaningless. I am 5'7" and would look fat if I was a 16, and skeletal if I was a size 6.

YY I am a size 12, but I am a overweight. According to BMI borderline obese, but I do a lot of training and carry a lot of muscle, so I'm smaller than my scale weight of 69 kgs would suggest.

None of this means I'm slim though and I bloody hate it when people say 'size 12 isn't fat' or 69kgs isn't heavy. It can be fat and is heavy if you're barely 5' tall as I am...

Anyway, I go by the thinking that while I wouldn't wear something that is obviously for the very young / skinny (that's my thing, if someone else wants to, go to it and I won't judge), with certain items you're fooling no-one. By which I mean, a fat woman in a bikini does not suddenly become a thin woman when she puts on a swimsuit as there's not much material in either. So wear what you like and feel comfortable in. If you want to wear swimsuit because you feel more comfortable then fair enough.

I think part of this might be because my worst body area for years was legs (now I cycle, not so much but they're not great). Obviously barring a wetsuit there's not much option to cover them on the beach, so the whole ' stomach baring / not stomach baring' thing just didn't register.

I never give a fuck I'm a size 24 and I always wear a bikini. I get too warm in a swimsuit plus it's so hard to go to the toilet. Fuck it if you don't like how I look then don't.

I'm nearly 6' and a size 10 and have never worn a bikini in my life, because I don't like my stomach. I know this is pathetic, and wish I'd just got over it when I was younger.

Although I'm paranoid about my own body, I've never, ever seen another woman in a bikini and thought she shouldn't be wearing it.

Rock that bikini, OP!

Going away in a couple of weeks and have been debating wether to buy bikinis or tankinis as I'm overweight and v wobbly! You lot have persuaded me that bikinis it will be.

I have big boobs to match my big tummy and bikini shopping is always traumatic. Don't really want to spend a lot as I'm determined to lose weight so will not need this bikini next year. Any ideas where to buy reasonably priced, good fitting ones?

OP we need to work on not giving a shit!!

Re: good quality bikinis, I have been wearing Seafolly swimsuits and tankinis for years, because their fit and quality is amazing. Friends also swear by the bikinis. Not what I'd call cheap, though!

I saw a really cute one in Sainsburys: Hawaiian print on a pale blue background, very retro styling, forgot what options for top but the bottoms could come in full-length and controlly.

I don't think I'll be joining you on this exercise (just don't have the courage! admire you though) but if I wore a bikini this year that would be the one.
