They look so comfy but are they acceptable on a 40 yr old?? Should I even care!?

You shouldn't care Grin but FWIW, I'm 43 and wear them. They're fab.

Smartiepants79 · 02/07/2014 18:49

I would say so. A colleague at work ( late 40s') has some and they look great. I think even my sixty odd yr old mum could wear them with the right clothes.

Greengardenpixie · 02/07/2014 19:16

What are they? Im curious??

BloodFlower · 02/07/2014 19:45

I'm not a fan of the look of them, but I think that they strangely could suit all ages.

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 02/07/2014 19:46

I love mine but im 29 so I dont know if my opinion counts. Fwiw I think they suit anyone and are quite cool footwear.

CrockedPot · 02/07/2014 21:49

Greengarden, you would know them if you saw them, a sort of trendy canvas shoe that look so comfy but also nice with skinny jeans.
You have made up my mind, I am getting some!

OP posts:
Pregnantagain7 · 02/07/2014 22:28

I can't bear them, but if you do want to get some have a look at branch309 they have them really cheaply in the sale can't think why Grin

MonterayJack · 02/07/2014 22:30

If they didnt slip off my feet I'd wear them and I'm 53. Go for it.

frames · 02/07/2014 22:30

Awful at any age.IMO!

Saurus72 · 02/07/2014 22:30

How comfy are they? May be a less clumpy option than my Supergas for my summer holiday perhaps...

Suzietwo · 02/07/2014 22:33

Sooooo comfy

Greengardenpixie · 02/07/2014 22:35

I suppose it depends upon which ones you get. Some look acceptable. Some look like my granny might wear them [ if she was still alive!]

These are ok:

They're brilliantly comfy for things like running errands and you can throw them in the washing machine if they get grubby. They look good with capris or skinny jeans. Don't try to wear them with maxi skirts, dresses or bootcut trousers.

Don't try and walk long distances in them...they probably have the same functionality as ballet flats but are slightly more casual.

CrockedPot · 10/07/2014 21:18

Got some! So comfy, don't want to wear anything else!

OP posts:
TheannamoLeelu · 10/07/2014 21:19

Anyone know howling they last?

redredread · 10/07/2014 23:35

Office have some in their sale at the mo- bought my first pair there today

DesperateHousewife21 · 11/07/2014 06:43

I love mine and my mum has bought 2 pairs because she loved mine so much! Shes 54!

Ive got black but would happily buy every colour they do Grin

EmpireBiscuit · 11/07/2014 06:48

I love mine. Wore a pair to death on mat leave last year. I must have walked miles in them and a seem finally gave in after 4 months.

Given I wore them almost every day this was acceptable to me. Bought a new pair for this year.

iamthecakefairy · 11/07/2014 09:12

I love my toms, I wore them constantly on holiday recently, which was possibly a mistake because I came back with square tan lines on my feet Grin

I'm also a sucker for anything charitable so that side of toms sold them to me, I have several pairs.

Oscar I didn't realise they could go in the washing machine - what cycle/temperature do you put them on??

Floisme · 11/07/2014 16:31

Oo-er I was about to leave a 'Don't be ridiculous, wear what you like' kind of comment but, you know what, I'm not sure about those, not for me personally.
I've not spotted them in real life but they do look as if they're meant to be a bit frumpy-in-a-hip-and-ironic kind of way and, at 57, I'm not sure I can pull that off, any more than I could get away with a blue rinse and horn-rimmed glasses. I would certainly think carefully about what I wore with them.
However you're nearly 20 years younger than I am, op so to you I say, 'Don't be ridiculous...' etc Grin
