Thanks Beachy for the frisky title suggestion.

Well, here we all are!

OP posts:
bigTillyMint · 04/07/2014 09:05

That sounds great lalsySmile

I am sitting in a hip cafe in Borough market with a coffee and a big chocolate thing trying to gear myself up for the day!

herbaceous · 04/07/2014 09:21

I'm booking a Toy Story bouncy castle. You would not believe the number of bouncy castle companies in this neck of the woods. I'm going with one called 'Basil'.

Feeling mildly hungover after I drunk more than my half-bottle limit of red wine last night. Half a bottle I'm fine. Any more, I suffer.

And then, off to my 'speed awareness course'. Just the day for a trip on the tube, then four hours in an airless room...

motherinferior · 04/07/2014 09:25

I have inadvertently invited my mum AND two other people to supper. Is it too early for Wine?

motherinferior · 04/07/2014 09:26

NU, I have steadfastly refused bridges over the years to cover gaps in my teeth created by bungled 1970s orthodontistry...

bigTillyMint · 04/07/2014 09:29

Feeling so much better after half a pound of good chocolate!

Blackduck · 04/07/2014 09:36

MI - possibly a bit too early ;)

I am at work feeling tres tired but looking forward to not one, but two, dresses to try on tonight - what's the betting I look hideous in both.
Then a night in a field Hmm I have convinced ds if it is tipping it down and/or too crowded we'll stop til the end and then come home (it's only a short walk away).

Tomorrow singing! Our repertoire is:
Cho Cho Losa
Down to the River
Scarborough Fair
Ain't no sunshine
Pachebels Canon
Didddly song (don't ask)
Downtown
California Dreamin'

And pint pulling, in a field.......

NUFC69 · 04/07/2014 09:42

Hatty, you are so right to avoid the wretched things. I now have an appointment for tomorrow morning - DH is coming with me as we know that the dentist will have to dig out the remains. Sad

As a consolation I am going clothes shopping later (must remember not to smile).

Lalsy, so glad to hear that DD enjoyed her prom. MI, it's a leetle early to start imbibing - I suggest you wait until eleven.

I am afraid I have discovered the delights of Costco Kirkland chocolate chips (cheap as, well, chips) 1 kg packet, and I grab a handful occasionally when I go in the kitchen. (And I go in the kitchen a lot!).

herbaceous · 04/07/2014 09:55

BD - your repertoire sounds just like my old Natural Voices lot. It was great. So uplifting. I do enjoy current choir, but it's so BIIIIG, and some of the stuff we do - I'm looking at you, Ralph Vaughan Williams - isn't exactly tuneful.

Next year, though, in an attempt to pull in the punters, and possible new members, we're doing such crowd-pleasers as Fauré's Requiem and Bach's B Minor Mass.

hattymattie · 04/07/2014 10:32

NU - I always forget I have a huge gap and braces - I think when I smile I must look like the village idiot.

great news - we had the baccalaureate results and DD got into her first choice uni so much rejoicing and relief.

Blackduck · 04/07/2014 10:33

Oh yes Herbs - we are not a proper choir, just a bunch of people murdering the odd tune or two.....

lalsy · 04/07/2014 10:33

HM, that's fantastic, many congratulations to her, what lovely news to start the summer with. Big chocolate things all round Grin.

motherinferior · 04/07/2014 10:46

Oh how lovely, Hattie! May i ask where? Can you combine it with seeing a few Crepey friends?

motherinferior · 04/07/2014 10:51

Oh how lovely, Hattie! May i ask where? Can you combine it with seeing a few Crepey friends?

Blackduck · 04/07/2014 11:02

Hatty - fantastic news.....!

hattymattie · 04/07/2014 11:11

MI- not your place, the other one, unbelievable for us. I shall certainly be swinging through London and will be on the look out for crepey meet-ups.

lalsy · 04/07/2014 11:16

Think that may be my one Smile, fantastic [and so handy to combine with meetups].

Blackduck · 04/07/2014 11:20

What's she going to study? (if it's where I think it is, my niece is there....)

hattymattie · 04/07/2014 11:29

Yes Lalsy, just checked on FB, law at your place. Her friend got in as well so very happy. Only problem is her boyfriend will in the Netherlands. He is a very nice boyfriend of whom I heartily approve, so if they manage to maintain it I will be very happy. He is in an engineering school with only 10% women apparently, so she is more likely to be tempted than he.

wordassociationfootball · 04/07/2014 11:49

Ruuuuudyyyyyy wherefore art thou?

Brill news re: Uni Hattie!

Herbs bouncy castles at home make for the perfect party. I totally get frittering energetic days. That Tiggerish ha, ha, ha I feel brill, I can do everything today often leads to nonsense, I find. Like me, yesterday. Believe I said I felt focussed? Within minutes (following Celeb Masterchef curiosity) I had found out that Elton John sends the lovely Kiki Dee an orchid and two bottles of champagne for her birthday every year. Much better to work slightly hungover, like I am today, blinkered and plodding with the yoke heavy round my neck. Smile

BTM What an amazing day for Diana Park. I so love it there. Every time I see the boat I remember suddenly noticing DD2 had the world's soggiest nappy and it makes me smile. Your iron is presumably on the up in any case but I was just saying there are two kinds of iron in your blood: heamo and ferratin. Thyroid and B12 are next things to test for if both iron levels are OK.

For anyone feeling blerruuuugh....

I bought this book www.amazon.co.uk/Revive-Exhaustion-Feel-Great-Again/dp/1848505930/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1404469120&sr=1-1&keywords=spent+by+frank+lipman three weeks ago. I don't do everything in it by a very long shot but I am down to one coffee a day and off sugar and wheat. I am eating very healthily and often having a fruit/whey protein/green superfood powder/nut milk/vanilla/lemon/agave smoothie for breakfast that he recommends plus a solgar multivit and good fish oil tab. That and the (key) 600mg iron I must have been desperate for, are perking me up no end.

Strops your DD looks utterly divine. No shoes snapped for posterity though. You're getting great interview advice. Mine is make an affirmation and say it to yourself loads. Maybe something like 'I am tenacious, dedicated, experienced and more than able to do this job'

Come on Crepey's, the perfect affirmation for Stropps?

wordassociationfootball · 04/07/2014 11:52

Even if you think it's hokey Stropps, do it. Less room for negative thinking. Plus, we are our words, and your subconscious is always listening.

Blackduck, I LOVE Down to the River. Might need to pull out my O, Brother Where Art Thou CD.

Stropperella · 04/07/2014 13:23

Hatty, big super WOW congratulations to your dd and I hope you will all have a fab time celebrating her success. How exciting!

Herbs, ds would still kill for a bouncy castle party now, but we don't have enough lawn space for a bc large enough for a group of 9 year olds.

NUF, sorry to hear about dental woes. Having bits dug out sounds like a -200 on the fun-o-meter.

MrsS, thank you very much for the pointer towards competence-based interview stuff. This has enabled me to point my thinking in a different direction. WAF, you are so right about the affirmations. My problems are anxiety and a total lack of self-belief and when put on the spot, I either go completely "black-hole-in-the-head" blank or come up with 102 reasons as to why I can't do something. I need to focus on some positives and think about why I can do it and what I have to offer and this is incredibly difficult for me. I didn't use to be this way, but a series of unfortunate events have resulted in me not being comfortable in venturing too far away from the home office for many years. I am going to sort this out. If I don't get this job, I will get another one.
Rosebag, I have saved the "I would like to develop my skills and abilities further in..." line. Most useful.
OPM, I have got the SEN Code of Practice from the DfE website, although it says it is still a draft. The job is a teaching assistant post.

Dh has managed to take on a job that I am supposed to deliver on Monday at 2pm. This has really quite annoyed me, although I can't complain too much. We have a packed Saturday with a big event to go to and I had a load of stuff that I needed to accomplish this morning before the weather changes later. And I want to prepare for my interview this afternoon and then give my subconscious some time to come up with some useful things. If I ask my conscious mind anything just now, it just comes up with reasons why I would be the least suitable person for any job you care to mention. So I guess I'll be working on Sunday. Meh.

lalsy · 04/07/2014 13:37

Stropps, you go!

Hatty, fabulous Smile

Herbs, anyone would kill for a bouncy castle party, no?

motherinferior · 04/07/2014 14:25

I have managed to fall on the car fob and knacker it. This is causing problems in sourcing extra food for supper. Thank heavens for delightful 17 year old on autism spectrum who would in any case PREFER chips. Grin

Herbs, I would stick to bouncy castle option for the next five years at least. DD2 has just been to a faaaaaaabulous party with one.

Rosebag · 04/07/2014 15:16

Stropps a couple of talented and kind TA's have made a significant difference to my DD's secondary school experience. I always buy them a gift at the end of the academic year. Similarly when i was working in schools (as a therapist) I worked with some excellent TA's. Go, you!

Hattie lovely news re Uni…great stuff.

Tilly do you think some of your recent malaise may have been due to chocolate deprivation Grin Do hope that the 'feeling better' continues.

And to all you toothless wonders…is this what I have to look forward to? I hate the dentist…aaaaargh

Herbs great move re bouncy castle…was my party default for years. Can't go wrong IMHO and I must admit I could never be arsed to do other party games (bad mother alert). I just let them run around and eat E numbers for the rest of the party.

Lovely songs BD! Well impressed by Herbs repertoire too! I have been tearing a strip off our choir members for poor attendance and atrocious discipline. And pretty awful singing actually. And they want to do another concert…over my dead body at the moment. I can be pretty scary when I'm Angry. By contract the pianist is a passive aggressive…so guess who is ALWAYS bad cop?

Just got back from being fleeced today trying to deal with another teen traveller kit list. Only consolation is that we got a pair of Teva trekker sandals in DS's humungous size for only £35 squids. Other then that…we are destitute Hmm

bigTillyMint · 04/07/2014 15:24

Hatty well done your DDCake And great that you will be able to make a meet-up now!

I have survived the day - the DC had a great time and were OK in the palace despite it not being the most interesting or child-friendly of places. They had a ball in the park of course!

Stropps, keep practising the positive thinking snd WAF I will tale a look at your link ehen I get in. I actually do se to have some sort of virusy thing as as well as a tickly throat and sniffy nose, I have sore glands. Am hoping it will go away soon!
