HELP. I need a hat. A very specific HAT.

tethersend · 01/07/2014 17:05

This hat, in fact. In off-white or cream.

Don't be fooled by American Apparel. They have none in stock, and instead of cancelling my order, saddled me with a white summer hat instead. Which I now have to send back Angry

So, I need a hat which is:

-Floppy
-Off white or cream
-Felt or wool

I don't want a straw or straw type one, which is all I can find at the moment.

Happy to buy second-hand if necessary.

Please help!

Grin

Unfortunately, that looks like straw or paper to me. I really need felt or wool. Thanks though.

Have you considered making it yourself?

tethersend · 01/07/2014 17:31

Twee, I'm all ears. How the actual FUCK do I make one?

Barabajagal · 01/07/2014 17:32

Not on the High Street have a good selection of felt hats in that style.

tethersend · 01/07/2014 17:32

Thanks capsicum, but those are beige- I need off white, cream or ivory.

Local hat hire place?

slackcabbage · 01/07/2014 17:42

I don't suppose this would be any good would it?

Lots of other hats to view on that site if not.

(Disclaimer - I shouldn't really be advising on a style and beauty thread but you have helped me out so many times over the years (various nns) Tethersend that I wanted to at least attempt to help!!)

Why so specific hmmm?? Have you lost/damaged one you borrowed lol Grin

callamia · 01/07/2014 19:16

I've got something that could work - I'll take a photo of it in a min.

TweeAintMee · 01/07/2014 20:34

tethersend - I've no idea and personally I'm rather rubbish at sewing but I DO love hats and quite like a project so I just did a quick Google and this is what popped up:

tethersend · 01/07/2014 21:49

Ooh, replies Smile

Thanks all for ideas. Although I have to say, Twee, I'm not bloody making one Grin

Luckily, Fauxfox's 'very close' is, well, very close- looks almost perfect. Thank you so much Smile

I want the hat for a wedding (not mine), and it needs to go with a dress.

tethersend - perhaps you could save that project for an icy day (when Hell freezes over] . Wink

Would this be any use?
Cream felt hat, label just says 'made in Britain'. I bought it in a vintage shop years ago. Never worn.
The flowers etc seem stitched on, and possibly could be removed.

HELP. I need a hat. A very specific HAT.
cocobongo · 05/07/2014 21:40

Oh, those hats remind me of the hat I wore when I was 17

Sorry. that isn't any help to you!

tethersend · 06/07/2014 10:01

Thank you callamia for such a kind offer Smile

I've ordered the one Fauxfox recommended, so may well call on you if it's not right!
