Im getting married in Vegas in October and going to be doing my own makeup. I decided to try Bobbi Brown for a make up lesson, the mua was great but I was so disappointed with the foundation and how it looked om the skin, she used a cc as primer/base and then illuminatng foundation over the top. my skin just looked yellow! even DP remarked on wjen I saw him and he never normally notices! can anyone recommend who else to try? Or even a good long lasting foundation that is possibly illuminating?

I went to Mac and Clarins (as I used their skincare at the time) and ended up using bits from both. Mac was great for their primer and lipstick colour. Clarins did my eyes beautifully. I now use bare minerals as a base, which in very impressed with, so I'd suggest trying them too. Smile

I use loreal for bases and also a smoothing primer, and then dior products on top, they are lovley too, got to boots and get a few make up your face done at the counters they will all benslightly different and you can use the producrs that you do and dont like its not too expensive andnthey wipe off the cost of the do if you buy a product fromthe range.

I think BB's 'thing' is yellow foundation, she's often mentioned it in articles, about how flattering it is. Thing is foundation isn't a one size fits all.

Go somewhere else and keep trying until you're happy Smile

Estée Lauder and Chanel are great for wedding/all day occasion type of make up. Illamasque do a fantastic base called hydra veil which will keep your make up looking freshly applied all day! Highlighting and contouring are your best friends for this kind of make up, think of the photos. And remember to get a foundation with out SPF to avoid 'ghost face' in all the flash photos.

No real recommendations but at least you have plenty of time to try things out and practice - I treated myself to a proper 'make up' on my wedding day, it was so awful that I came straight home and washed it off and just put my usual blusher and mascara on Grin. Twenty five years later I can just look back and laugh !

Best I have found is the benefit one - I love it, plus I'm picky Smile

The benefit lady made me look like a corpse. The nice people at Mac made me look like a wag, complete with enormous trout pout. Lancome and clinique both did a lovely job. They realised that looking like a Kardashian fool was not the goal.

If you are quite cool toned (which would explain the yellow foundation issue) then Lancome tient idole 24h is lovely, lasts very well and is very buildable. I used it for a friend who was being a bridesmaid (so the same sort of look) and it lasted well and looked great. The urban decay naked 3 palette was fab for 'bridal' eyes too

I wore YSL make up when I got married. Their MUAs always ensure I look normal when they test anything on me (obviously better, but still normal looking!).

I love their touche éclat foundation and their primer is good too.

thanks for all your great suggestions, definitely some brands that I wouldn't have considered. The mua said I had warm undertones which I thought was odd, I have blonde hair, Blue eyes and pale skin. At least I have plenty of time to get it right Smile
