Converse or will a cheaper imitation do?

I need a pair of throw-on trainer type pumps for summer, and don't know whether to spend 40-50 on Converse, or will a 20 imitation pair from Next or similar do the job just as well?

Anyone know if any of the converse-a-likes come up extra wide? I love the look of converse but they absolutely kill my stubby feet!

iwantgin what are the superga sizes like? I have quite slim feet.

treaclesoda · 25/06/2014 08:27

I wore Converse for years, then I discovered Superga which are much more comfortable and come in so many more colours.

But DD has converse and various other supermarket converse alikes and she finds the cheap ones far more comfortable.

cereal I have slightly broad feet - so they may feel a bit too large for you. I usually buy a 7 - which in Superga sizing comes in at a 41 - which I think is nearer an 8 though?

Best thing is to try some on - if you can find a store which stocks them.

Mine aren't Converse. I bought some cheapie lookalikes last year and they are great. I am not a brand aware sort of person and only buy into shoe brands if they are amazing quality/very practical/unbelievably comfortable.

Just ordered some supergas but will hang onto the campers to see if they are boat like.

I prefer my Next ones to Converse, way more comfy.

How about Rocket Dog Jazzin sneakers? They have a rounded toe and a really well cushioned in sole. They are so comfy and come in lots of colours and patterns.
here are five patterned styles but you can buy block colour too.

Hmmm well I have wide feet so it looks like Converse will be given a miss... There are some lovely look-a-likes on Next but all the ones I love are sold out in my size... Have ordered a couple of other pairs from there though so will see how they look.

........ and the Next ones were only 22! The Converse Ox are 49 on Next, and they do look lovely but think they'd make my feet look too clowny and fliper-like... I'm only 5'5 with short legs too Blush

Converse suit my feet but I have never paid more than £25 a pair anyway.
