What do I do? Shock

It's moulting everywhere and if I run my fingers through it i get lots and lots of strands in each hand.

When I got up, there was hair all over my pillow Confused

Have u been shedding for a while?
It may be normal sometimes hair sheds more than other times .
My hair thinned dramatically last year after extreme stress, weight loss and major op.

chockbic · 23/06/2014 12:42

It can be hormonal or stress related as rewy says.

Do you colour your hair?

hellymelly · 23/06/2014 12:44

Are you post natal? The other biggie is thyroid disfunction, mine fell out a lot when my thyroid was going underactive. Extreme stress, as pp says, is another possible cause. How do you feel otherwise?

Rewy · 23/06/2014 12:46

Normal to lose up to 150 hairs a day

Well definitely don't ignore it - and DO go to the doctor. And if they don't help DO keep at them and ask to be sent to a consultant.

My hair fell out - I had the lots and lots of strands in my hands after running fingers through it thing for months. I didn't pay any attention for too long.

The eventual diagnosis was an auto-immune condition, in my case dermatomyositis, on the same spectrum as lupus. You may have something else - but go to the docs and find out. (My GPs were baffled for months but eventually sent me to a dermatologist who knew what he was looking at within minutes.)

Once I was on medication the hair loss slowed right down. So I wish I had gone to the docs (and more specifically, the consultant) months earlier.

Mine has just started falling out a for a few weeks I can run my fingers through and it comes straight out with the white bit at the end so I'm assuming the root / folical it's thinning noticeably at the side almost bald I had a baby 5months ago It could be baby related if you've recently had one or thyroid I'm off to the doctors this week to ask if it's worrying you maybe see you gp too

AnonButRegular · 23/06/2014 13:10

Not had a baby for 15 years! I do colour my roots, have been a bit stressed. I have the mirena coil.

It's been bad now for about 6-8 weeks. It's far more than the normal shedding I was getting say 6 months ago.

Have recently developed exzema on my eyes and forearms.

Maybe a visit to the Gp is in order. Both grandmothers had under active thyroid as does my mum. I also have polycystic ovaries confirmed by a tv scan but bloods were fine. That was about 2-3 years ago though.

Also had severe back pain for the past few months which is really getting me down.

Thanks for the advice Thanks

As you have skin rashes too, definitely mention lupus/ dermatomyositis to the doctor.

AnonButRegular · 23/06/2014 14:07

I will, thank you Smile

Is your scalp itchy at all?

I have mild dermatitis and a couple of years ago it made my hair fall out like crazy. Dr. said it was just stress related.
