self tan

Has anybody got any recommendations for a self tanning lotion for a complete novice?

Ive never used it before, my legs are so white, they are almost blue. I don't want a dark tan, just a hint of colour to take the edge off.

A few stupid questions now,

Does it rub off on your bed sheets?

If I go for a paddle in the sea will I come out looking like I'm wearing white socks where its washed off?

And lastly

How do I avoid it looking patchy?

I'm nova tight budget so the cheaper the better Smile

I would recommend cocoa brown- you can get it in superdrug and primark for about £6

You only need to leave it on one hour (or up to 3 if you want to darken it a bit more). I'm sitting with it on now! It isn't too dark, just a bit more noticeable than gradual tans. So wash it off before bed and it doesn't really smell either. I usually can't be bothered fading with fake tans, but this is very easy, hard to make mistakes with and even for the one hour it doesn't sit on your skin too much.
One thing though, when you first wash it off it looks like it hasn't taken much, after a few hours it gets a bit more noticeable.

It's a mousse, so get a cheap tanning mitt to apply. The accompanying body scrub you can also buy is great for prepping your skin or getting rid of the remnants of old tan.

I'm quite pale too btw.

Ps I wore it on holiday a few weeks ago, it lasted most of the week, even though I was in the pool, paddling in the sea etc. I usually get just over a week out if it at home.
A few nights I used the garnier gradual tan moisturiser to top it up a bit and obviously get a wee bit browner naturally too
