Buying knickers

My knicker drawer comprises:

  • knickers that were too big when I bought them and will never be worn
  • knickers that are too small / cut through my flab, and should never be worn
  • just the right size but losing elasticity or with holes.

Sounds glamourous?

The thing is that you can't 'try before you buy' and every pair seem to be a different size despite what the label says so how do I buy new knickers? I'm sick of buying knickers that when I get them home don't fit.

What is the secret to buying knickers?

I am a size 14+ with a bit of a tummy. I want knickers over my tummy otherwise they cut into my tummy or if they are lower I have a muffin top.

Any tips?

I went in marks last week and did that thing my grandmother used to do when I was younger...sort of hold it round my body to see if it goes.

This actually worked quite well as IMO you don't want your knickers to have to stretch on to you as it will cut into flab.

Anyway M&S have a range if no VPL cotton ones and I sized up

Perfect

Having recently lost quite a lot of weight I have found that the stretchy short style knickers still fit, so they might be an option.

It's not an ideal situation is it; when you can't try them on...
