Outfit for "Team Building"

Bear with me here - I know team building and S&B may be fundamentally incompatible, but if anyone can help then you can!

It's my office team building day later this week. We are visiting a location for a tour, going dragon boat racing, finishing up with an evening BBQ. Appearance wise I would self define as fairly high maintenance for a pretty standard outcome, and really quite girly. I work in a smart office, I mostly wear skirts with sleeveless silky blouses or dresses to work and ALWAYS heels. However, put me in team building day and I'm pretty stuck. How can I look halfway presentable for the day? I've been told that after dragon boat racing there are changing facilities and showers, so feasibly I could do one outfit for tour/BBQ and the other for wet activity, but beyond that I'm pretty stuck. There isn't really anyone I can ask at work, let alone ask what I can wear to hopefully maintain my gravitas/not look like an absolute idiot. I work in Central London so most shop options work, but don't want to spend a fortune on things I will never wear again if possible...

Well, am not one for clothes for the great outdoors either, but I'd probably do cropped legging, Capri pants style things with a pretty long line t shirt top and lace up pumps. Jeans will take too long to dry if they get wet, ditto trackies.

I would then take flat sandals or ballet pumps for the BBQ and maybe a different top/thin cotton knit for that too.

I would try H&M for stuff like this that will be cheap as chips, relatively attractive and not too hearty outdoorsy style that you will never wear again.

Or those loose flowery trousers that are everywhere and a vesty top?

jessabell · 22/06/2014 18:21

Make sure got a full change of clothes for I the evening.

BigPawsBrown · 22/06/2014 18:25

When in doubt: tea dress and tights with ballet flats.

I would wear skinny cargos or chinos or shorts if hot for the day time. Vest top or simple t shirt and a sweater if it's chilly. Pumps or skate shoe things that are everywhere at the moment, or white converse. Wedges maybe if you always wear heels and are comfortable in them.

Then change in the evening.

What do you normally wear for casual weekend clothes?

Agree with flats and not heels for the BBQ, unless there is a hard surface. Heels sinking into grass are terribly impractical and make the wearer look very silly.

Those loose cotton/jersey trousers patterned or plain with a vest top or t-shirt. Or cotton/linen shirts again with a best or t for daytime. Then change into a dress and flats for the BBQ.

dragon boat shouldn't capsize, but assume you will get wet from splashes. Leggings, t-shirt, fleece top handy if it is cold and weapons-grade suncream. Also complete change of clothes as wet bum quite likely.

This is great, thank you! I'd normally go tea dress and cardigan for weekends, it was more dragon boating that fills me with horror :| I will see how flowery trousers look, I like the sound of those, or chinos and a longline top.
