Summer hats

Are there rules?

I neeeed a hat for my holiday because otherwise my scalp will get burned. And I'm not that comfy in the heat, so that's another reason.

I've got very short hair and a huge head [attractive] I've tried things like this trilby and they just perch on the top of my head.

And I know big floppy hats are fashionable but they're just so big and floppy.

I've always disliked baseball caps but with short hair, maybe this military cap is a better option, but it doesn't cover the back of my head, so it's not really that much use is it?

If the trilby suits you but is just too small, why don't get a mans one ?

Sorry if I am misunderstanding

M&S hats in medium/large are a good size as I have a large head too.Have you tried there?

KristinaM · 21/06/2014 09:15

With your large head and shrinking feet, it's a wonder you don't blow over in strong winds Wink

Grin

I'm just not sure I suit the trilbys. They always look perched even when they technically fit.

I wondered if it was the hair but blokes wear them.

I usedto have one of those fabric hats you could pull right down but it seems a bit dated now.

I share your pain

Although I have big feet and a small head

I don't feel the need for a sun hat in the Uk. But where we go on holiday abroad it's sunny and windy ( we go there because it's windy)

So the fashionable big brim hats or trilby a blow off. Unless you tie them on with a string under your chin . This is good for getting the children to refuse to be seen with you , so it does have its advantages

Baseball caps can be adjusted to your head size to make you even more hot and sweaty

It's a conundrum

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 21/06/2014 13:10

Hmm. Teenager struggling to be seen with me anyway so maybe not a tie beneath the chin Grin

Are you old brace enough for a visor Grin

Wallaroo hats seem to be the best selling on Amazon but there's no indication of size.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 21/06/2014 17:54

I'm not anti visor but it wouldn't stop my scalp from burning.

I'll have a look at walleroo though.

Tried on a couple of fedoras today and if I can get one to fit, I might go for it.

Have you tried a Panama? You can get the squashable roll up sort, but Warehouse, Monsoon, Top Shop and loads of places sell them for about £10-£20.

I got mine from Monsoon and have worn it a lot.

I got a straw cowboy/trilby hybrid from Poundland.

I have a similar one to the military one you linked to from Matalan (no buckles on it )
I have short hair but I think my head and feet are normal size.
