Do you look better naked or dressed?

I don't know if this is a silly question but I look very different naked. I am not fat at all but I am short and carrying a few pounds extra of late. The excess weight is mostly on my bottom but also on my thighs, so much so that my body is very deceiving and I look a million times better when I'm dressed. I am dreading the summer holidays, I don't think even my DH realises how disproportionally fat my thighs are Sad.

Naked, I think. I'm pale and a bit fat curvy and I decided a long time ago that I'd make my acres of skin into my secret best feature, so I've always used sunblock, and moisturised. Am probably a bit more Beryl Cook than Reubens, though. An old boyfriend always used to tell me that he liked me with clothes on, but loved the fact I was like a woman from another century as soon as I undressed - that mental image did more for my body confidence than any amount of Spanx. Will always love him for that.

Clothed, I can look dumpy very easily, as I've got short legs and not a small enough waist to get away with the sort of fitted clothes that'd my brain says should suit me. My bum looks much better half-swathed in white sheets that it does rammed into a pair of skinny jeans...

Dressed I'd say. DH would disagree.

bunbaker Jealous? Moi?

TwoInTheMourning your question caught my attention because almost of all of my friends and family have seen me both ways. This happened when I posed nude for a photo project on the effects of treatment for breast cancer on women's bodies - the idea being to show positive images. I am not sure if I look better one way or the other, but I was surprised by how enthusiastic my friends were about seeing me get naked and also by how relaxed my husband and family were about it. If you or anyone else here are interested, I have written a not too serious story of this at my Breast Cancer Diary - there are some pictures so you can judge for yourself whether I look better naked or dressed.

I suspect that if you can summon up the confidence to take all your clothes off and get away with it, you're probably going to look better with them on.

When I was younger, naked, I realised the other day that I now look better with clothes on

50ShadesOfSummer · 12/07/2014 06:10

Nicki: your blog is fascinating and brave. I'd say you look pretty damn good naked!

As for me, I'd say I look better in clothes, but like JustWondering my DH says better naked - or in skimpy underwear!

GertieFinkle · 12/07/2014 06:35

OMG dressed, dressed, dressed! Two sections have left me with a lovely tight scar flabby tummy situation. Plus I am few stone over weight. Clothes don't disguise that but they mask the cellulite a bit. I don't like anyone seeing me naked Sad

madmomma · 12/07/2014 10:07

Dressed to disguise the rampant gunt issues.

sassytheFIRST · 12/07/2014 10:27

Best in.bra and pants/bikini. Large tits need hoiking up away from decent waist but look matronly in clothes.rest of me ok.

WanderingTrolley1 · 12/07/2014 10:32

If i had to pick one! I'd go for dressed! I think...

MrsCosmopilite · 12/07/2014 10:39

I look better without my glasses on - then I can't see what I look like.

noddyholder · 12/07/2014 11:19

Semi naked just knickers I look ok better than dressed

Dontgotosleep · 12/07/2014 11:28

I'd say dressed. Although d.p would probably say naked

SorrelForbes · 12/07/2014 12:14

Naked. Frankly I have a nice figure naked. Hour glass. Then clothes go on and I'm just a tub of lard it appears. Naked I might be more than I should but it's all still in right places. Dressed it moves, changes. And depresses me.

^^ This. I too am an hour glass and can easily look lumpen and bigger than I am.

Greengardenpixie · 12/07/2014 14:54

my dh would say definetly naked ha ha....
but for me thank god for clothes!!! I have sported stretch marks since i was 19 and had my first. They have been with me most of my life and are on my chest, thighs, calves and mostly my tum. It used to upset me until i realised i wasnt alone. As for my figure well its not really that bad. Im slightly overweight but ive not got bad proportions. I am a size 12 and i accept myself more naked than i did. I would not like to go to a nudist beach though!!!

F4ttyBumBum · 12/07/2014 18:58

Dressed. Always dressed.

MrsKoala · 12/07/2014 22:29

Naked. I am tall and broad with a flat chest, small waist, big bum and long limbs. Finding clothes to fit my shape is difficult (if they fit my hips they hang on my waist, waists are often too high, as are hems, if a dress fits my back it swamps the rest of me - i am a 16 round the back and 10 waist and 14 bum - shoulder seams never reach where my shoulders actually are and arm and leg lengths are always an issue) and i always feel uncomfortable. I would be naked forever if i could be.

I am currently 31wks pregnant and i just love my body like this too. It's lovely

blueshoes · 12/07/2014 23:31

I think I look equally good naked or dressed. Grin

I am short with petite build. Pear shaped with small boobs, small waist but comely hips. Thighs and upper arms could do with some work and my belly depends on when I had my last big meal but slim overall.

I wear mostly dresses with heels.
