Help! Ascot on Wednesday. Need help. Did I mention I need help?

So an op I had last year and the resultant fuckery with my hormones has left me 5ft 4 and a size 20. Hooray. Not.

I need to look "acceptable" on Wednesday. I have just been through wardrobe and I don't really have anything.

(Don't ask what good points I have - there are none at the moment! I have very high self-esteem so I'm fine. Honestly. I know why I am where I am and I just need to get through it!)

I would be inclined towards a maxi (I know they have their detractors on here for short people) so that I don't have to wear tights and can get away with a relatively comfortable pair of wedges. But it would need to be a glam maxi.

Bare legs are absolutely out of the question - so any shorter options need to be possible with fishnet tights or something.

Bare arms also out of the question so may need a shrug/jacket something.

Pre-op (size 16) I used to look quite nice in Lady V 50s style dresses but they now bunch up around my middle as I am very big around the tummy.

Budget could be up to £200 as I also have a couple of weddings this summer - but would prefer not to spend too much.

And obviously I need to be able to order online for next day delivery!

Anyone up for the challenge? Big thanks to anyone who can help Grin

What sort of colours suit you? Do yo like patterns, prefer plain colour or not mind?

this and this are both so very bargainous that I'd have to try on just in case

ZakuroFujiwara · 14/06/2014 12:39

They are great Mrs Lettuce

My only worry is whether they would end up a bit matronly. Although I'm 40 this year so maybe I'm kidding myself...Wink The blue in particular looks nice.

Don't mind plain or patterns. Would probably prefer a colour as I live in black because of the weight gain - but then there's a reason for that!

I've got very pale skin and strawberry-blonde-ish hair if that's of any use in terms of colours i.e. NOT yellow!

Great site Rosie. Thank you.

I quite like this. Have got a little black shrug I could wear it with and could probably get away with black fishnets. Might order the 18 and 20 and see how I get on.

Oh yes, that's rather nice!

ZakuroFujiwara · 14/06/2014 13:31

Oh bugger. They don;t do next day delivery. Back to the drawing board!

I really rather like this

ZakuroFujiwara · 14/06/2014 13:51

I love the look of that but know it would end up looking like a sack on me! I'd look very "bunched up" in it - even with magic pants on - IYKWIM.

this too
black floral
but, mango don't do next day, just 2 day delivery

If you are desperate for delivery, may I suggest John Lewis. They do next day delivery to your local Waitrose or John Lewis store if you put an order in before 7pm. This includes Sundays so if you order today you should get it tomorrow.

House of Fraser are good too. Do next day delivery. Lots of choice.

They have a style adviser thingie - you put in your coloring, size, weight, height etc and they recommend stuff. Wallis do the same.

Thanks ladies - always forget about JL. Have now ordered a dress and hat that I think will work. Hip hip hooray. Thanks for all your suggestions! Thanks
