Work and going out clothes

Hi, do you wear separate clothes for work and for going out, and weekends? I never know what to do for the best with my wardrobe.

Depending on your work dress code, wouldn't you just put your suits in one part of your wardrobe (using proper wooden hangers), with the remainder of your work clothes at just one end of the relevant section? So:

  • top section: work tops on the left, other tops in the middle, going out on the right.
  • trouser section: work trousers on the left, other trousers in the middle, going out on the right.
  • dress section: work dresses on the left, other dresses in the middle, going out on the right.

That's roughly how I organised things.

However, if you have a business casual dress code for work, things will be a bit more mixed up / combined.

I mostly have a work wardrobe and a few pieces for weekends but I wear work pieces as casual too

Separate work and casual wardrobes here. Can't bear to even look at work clothes at the weekends.

Separate work and weekend wardrobe here too, although there's sometimes a bit of crossover on tops as I can't seem to find any decent shortsleeved tops for work and more generally on Fridays when I've run out of steam and if i have no meetings.

I have separate sections of my wardrobe for work jackets, then work dresses (my preferred outfit), then work bottom halves. Rest of wardrobe is tops that need hanging, knitwear and casual dresses. A teeny bit at the end is proper 'going-out' tops and dresses. Work tops I do wear at weekends with jeans or whatever too though, as they are usually just cap sleeved shell tops or floral or stripey or whatever, sort of tees but smarter / more interesting.
