This is my first post on mumsnet although I'm on the site everyday!
I have a wedding in September and a lot of young, glamorous people will be there.
I'm clueless about dresses.
Is this ok? If so, any ideas about shoes.

Thanks

I love it! Wear it with nude shoes or shoes in another muted colour, like a pale dusky pink or mauvey-grey perhaps. Sandals I would say.

Wow, that's fast. Thanks so much.

I love it too Grin

I love the Mint Velvet ones. I need a heel as I'm just 5ft. They're just a bit pricey. I'm hoping a summer sale might help things!
Thanks Creme. Is it naff to match shoes and bag?

Thanks Bigpaws. I feel I can do this wedding now. But haven't managed smiley faces yet....

Love the dress. Might nick the idea myself for a forthcoming wedding!

MuttonCadet · 13/06/2014 06:51

Gorgeous dress! Agree with nude heels. (Personally I like to match shoes and bag - but I am quite traditional).

Gorgeous dress! You will look v elegant.

MorelloKisses · 13/06/2014 09:25

I might be tempted by grey shoes and then a coloured bag...

HolgerDanske · 13/06/2014 09:28

The dress is lovely. Nude shoes, contrasting bag would be much nicer than matchy-matchy, IMO.

JeanSeberg · 13/06/2014 09:40

I'd go for bright coloured shoes - red, blue, green - nude or grey will make it too work-y.

Or something a bit quirky:

I'm desperate for an excuse to buy these:

The dress is lovely.

Will you be wearing a hat?

Karbea · 13/06/2014 09:46

Gorgeous dress. Why not try with bright pink accessories.

SuperFlyHigh · 13/06/2014 09:52

That's a great dress at a good price. It's also wearable again (with same or different accessories).

Haroldplaystheharmonica · 13/06/2014 11:33

I agree Jean the dress is gorgeous but I wouldn't wear nude shoes, especially court shoes or sling backs, definitely too worky.

OP, I love your username! Please tell me it's in reference to Victoria Wood years ago?

Totallyfidobono · 13/06/2014 16:08

Thanks everyone. I like the dress a lot, just thought it was too plain for a wedding but I'm going to order it and see how it looks on.
I'm a redhead so would tend to stay away from bright pink as a contrast colour, more nude/pink.
I like the idea of a, I'm afraid to say it, but, something like this

And yes Harold....it's a ref to Victoria wood ...I've been saying it for years and get weird looks from people!

Change of heart re: hat thing
Staying with dress and will go with nude/ muted colour shoes and a clutch - will decide on colour after I mess about a bit. Keeping it pared down - it's more me and I'd feel more comfortable.
Thanks for all the comments/advice. I haven't been to a wedding in a long time and am out of touch with style.
Jeanseberg - the Schuh shoes are fab- just too quirky for me.
