Raybans

I've splashed out on a pair because a) I think they suit my face ( small oval- the glasses not my face) b) I wear sunglasses a lot even in winter and c) I trust they are well made and will last.

I have a problem with glasses of any kind ( fit) because my nose is very slightly twisted to one side and most glasses don't sit right- they are lopsided as my face is not symmetrical ( sound lovely don't I??? :))

I can return if I change my mind ( good old J Lewis) but just wondered if they were a bit posy, passe or worse?

Not super keen on the Rayban logo on the lens but it's quite small.

But just teensy bit worried that I've paid £100+ for something not that great.

I love raybans. Have two pairs of aviators and another pair of their shades I wear in rotation. I have a few other designer shades but always go for the ray bans as they reduce glare so well, great for driving.
Everyone has uneven ears resulting in crooked glasses. An opticians should be able to straighten them if they bother you.

Thanks- mind put at rest.

I've just got some custom made wayfares and I love them. I've always wanted the coloured ones and thought I'd get something different. They'll be worth the money as I doubt they'll date

littlewhitebag · 12/06/2014 17:41

I've got prescription lenses in my Raybans and I love them.

FelixFelix · 12/06/2014 17:43

I have some tortoise shell wayfarers and I love them. They are very sturdy! I don't think they suit my face though Confused

Cheesymonster · 12/06/2014 18:29

What style did you get op? I have black wayfarers (new not classic) and love them.

RavenRose · 12/06/2014 18:41

I love mine. I got black wayfarers and it was easily the best 100 quid I've ever spent. They have stopped the sunlight induced migraines, are pretty sturdy and have even survived an owl attack. Plus I love the way they look

Lazysummerdays · 12/06/2014 18:56

I got the tortoiseshell in new Wayfarer- quite classic.

Raven- Owl attack? Shock

Lazysummerdays,

Yes an owl attack! We were at one of those things where you can hold an owl and have you photo taken. Dd nagged me to hold an eagle owl. She had it on her arm and it suddenly lunged at my face. It happened so fast the handlers couldn't react. It got the wayfarers, theres a slight scratch and that's it! So yes they are well made ( and we now steer clear of owls and handling sessions!).

It may not have happened if I wasn't wearing them - I don't really want to test it though!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 12/06/2014 19:09

DS1 bought me fakes in Malia last year.... love em

ZenNudist · 12/06/2014 19:46

I like tortoiseshell wayfarers but don't wear sunnies often enough to justify buying them.

Not sure they actually suit me, or indeed anyone I see wearing them... Wink

OverAndAbove · 12/06/2014 19:49

Personally I think Wayfarers are a bit done and dusted - they don't suit many face shapes and are a hard thing to wear

But Rayban do loads of other styles and the quality is fantastic so if you have found a pair you suit, then you've not wasted your money!

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 12/06/2014 19:51

I have aviators and tortoiseshell ones, not wayfarers as they are a squarer slightly wraparound lense. Those are my favourites I've worn them for a few years now. My aviators are a bit too bling as I got mirrored ones. They look fab on holiday though.

I brought oakley square tortoiseshell ones this year but prefer my ray ban.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 12/06/2014 19:55

DH loves his. They are very well made. And they look great on him Smile

HappyGirlNow · 12/06/2014 21:45

I have 5 pairs including wayfarers in both black and tortoiseshell and aviators.. Love them all.. And I own LOTS of designer sunglasses - Chanel, Prada etc..

You've made a good choice! Grin

carrie74 · 13/06/2014 08:34

I've got 3 pairs now: red wayfarers (don't wear much anymore), silver mirrored aviators ((LOVE,), and a black oval pair (not sure what they're called). I'm wearing the black ones loads at the moment, and wore the aviators on holiday loads (after I had them adjusted so they stopped falling off my small face). Am a total convert to (a) paying a bit more for sunglasses: they are more comfortable to wear, do their job, and last a really long time and (b) getting them adjusted to fit your face. Who knew?

Greenstone · 13/06/2014 08:37

I have black wayfarers and like them. Dh has aviators. Oakley sunglasses are probably better made though. Their frogskins are nice.

AttitudeOfGratitude · 13/06/2014 08:45

I have black wayfarers which unfortunately I dropped and cracked - need to see if I can glue them back together. I also have black Jackie Ohh's which I love

FelixFelix · 13/06/2014 09:08

Carrie I didn't know you could get them adjusted! I have chubby cheeks (no matter how much weight I lose Confused) and my Wayfarers sit on my face funny and leave a mark on my hamster cheeks. I wonder if getting them adjusted would help!
