Hi all,

I'm looking for seemingly the impossible eyeshadow, so thought I'd ask the experts. Thanks in advance.

Requirements:

  • Palette with a mirror, big enough to apply a face of makeup using but palette small enough to fit in makeup bag, so approx 5x4cm?
  • 3 to 4 colours in the smokey palette, so white/silver, black or black/brown and something in between
-£10 or less This is the closest so far, but I think it is too big: www.boots.com/en/Barry-M-Smokin-Hot-Eye-Shadow-and-Face-Blusher-Palette_1395362/

I've found lots in the correct colours, but no mirrors. Gah!

You need a Sleek palette. Either the Au Naturel palette or the Vintage Romance palette.

Storm might also work.

A wee bit bigger than the dimensions you've given but so worth that compromise. The quality is phenomenal and they have a brilliant mirror.

Miss Sporty eyeshadow is abysmal and I don't rate Rimmel either.

Thanks. Do you know approx what size they are?

I agree that Sleek is worth considering. The shadows are very good!

You could also have a look at NYX - they have a 10 eyeshadow palette that looks a bit smaller than the Sleek one at around £6.50 on sale here: www.nyxcosmetics.co.uk/eyeshadow?product_id=277
I've heard good things about NYX, but I haven't used them myself.

There's also Inglot. I have a couple of the eyeshadows (not from that freedom system though) and they are good.
You could get one of those rainbow eyeshadows seen here: www.beautylish.com/s/inglot-cosmetics-freedom-system-rainbow-eye-shadow-103 which as far as I can tell should fit into this little palette: www.beautylish.com/s/inglot-cosmetics-freedom-system-eye-shadow-palette-with-mirror-1-square

You can buy them here, but the site isn't very easy to navigate and the pictures on the page above are much better: www.inglotuk.com/Palettes-Freedom_System_Palette_1_with_Mirror.html
and
www.inglotuk.com/Eyes-Freedom_System_Eye_Shadow_Rainbow_Refill.html

You can find stores here if you'd like to see the colours IRL: inglotcosmetics.com/inglot/stores

There's a Stila palette for a blue (I know you didn't mention blue, but maybe it's an option anyway) smokey eye here: www.beautybay.com/cosmetics/stila/strikinginsouthbeachbeachgirlpalette/

I second Sleek. Their palettes are amazing. They're a bit bigger than you're looking for but very slim and light weight.

goodasitgets · 09/06/2014 21:45

Naked basics palette?

goodasitgets · 09/06/2014 21:48

Can't find tape measure but sleek are maybe 6 inches by 3 inches?

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 09/06/2014 21:49

Oh I like inglot, it's very good eyeshadow. Thanks for link.

How about Art Deco? Small palettes you can fill with your choice of eyeshadow and blush.

MorelloKisses · 10/06/2014 08:46

Hi all, I am really loving the create your own palettes!
