Wonderbra strapless help needed with sizing please

I got intervened by the lovely bra ladies on here last year and take a 30FF in freya and fantasie.

I just went to buy a wonderbra strapless and took a load into the changing room as I heard that they come up small. They didnt have a 30FF. The one that came closest to fitting me was the ivory lace in 32F, but the band still felt loose (the same size in the smooth black style was massive in the band), any scooping came back out again. The biggest cup size 30 band they had in stock was a 30E which was way too small, but I could hardly get the band done up and it gave me horrendous back fat and the strap narrowed in to a ribbon, but perhaps because the cup was too small?

I need to order online now, can anyone advise what to order from your own experience. I cant afford to order more than two sizes at the moment. Any help appreciated.

Watching with interest. I bought one of these last year. I think I got a 30D but I'm usually a 30DD/E (I think I'd been advised to go down in the cup size). Anyway, it was so tight that the silicone band left red raised welts on my skin which took weeks to fade Shock

I was half thinking of trying again but with a bigger band but maybe I should just steer clear. I could really do with a decent strapless bra.

I personally went up a back size and down a cup, so would try 32E. but if the band felt too bog then maybe 30FF as well - the 30E-cup would be too small and maybe that's why it felt too tight.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/06/2014 17:20

I have a 32 when I normally wear a 30. It's an odd one because it does feel a bit loose but it somehow doesn't move! However I'd suggest trying a 30ff and maybe a h based on the scooping issues. The 30 e would have been much too small in the cup so would have felt too small in the band as a result

mycatlikestwiglets · 09/06/2014 19:05

I had to go up two cup sizes - like you I found the band painfully tight in my usual size (30F) but going up a back size was far too loose. One cup size up still left me with serious back fat. I think it's a marmite bra tbh - even rightly sized it just didn't sit comfortably on me as it sits so low.

I tried, emphasis on "tried" a 30E strapless wonder bra yesterday (on offer in Debenhams). I couldn't even get it fastened beyond one hook, and even then I couldn't get it high enough up on my rib cage to offer any support. I measure a 30F (Bravissimo) but they didn't have that cup size. I would have probably had more success with a 32 but I was so unimpressed I didn't bother trying any others.

StatisticallyChallenged · 09/06/2014 20:45

BearPear the sizing is funny so it is definitely worth trying others. It is meant to sit lower on your ribcage than a normal bra though (although it may have been too low due to needing a bigger band, lots of people take a bigger band in it)

Lambzig · 09/06/2014 20:47

Thanks, it sounds like very one struggles to get the right size. I think I will try a 30ff and a cup size bigger too. What a pain. Bearpear, maybe we tried the same freakishly small 30e on?

I think I'll try on a 32D or DD next time I'm near the shops based on advice on here (usually a 30DD/E). If it doesn't work for me - I'm wondering if I'm allergic to the silicone bands Confused - does anyone have any recommendations for good strapless bras? StatisticallyChallenged you know everything about bras. What do you recommend?

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/06/2014 09:40

Unfortunately pretty much every strapless bra has silicone, it's how they keep em up. You'd probably need to look at something like a basque or corset or possibly a longline strapless to find something without the strips

wonkylegs · 10/06/2014 09:57

I usually wear a 28FF or G but as the wonderbra strapless only starts at a 30 I bought the 30G online and it's fine on the tightest hook.

HazleNutt · 10/06/2014 12:07

when googling for strapless bras, I came upon the dailyFail article about a 50L size. The comments are, of course, charming. But again there is a woman claiming to be size 10/12 and wearing a 42 back bra. Sigh. Want to bet M&S had something to do with it?

but even then, 42 back? She can probably wrap it around her twice. At least.

StatisticallyChallenged · 10/06/2014 12:31

Sigh indeed hazle. I have to admit I do wonder if there is much point to making a strapless of that size though-it didn't look particularly sturdy and I can't help thinking that under the physical weight of 50L it will be utterly useless.

HazleNutt · 10/06/2014 13:24

I don't want to totally derail this thread, so if Wonderbra does not work, I have a Fantasie strapless that's also quite sturdy, and wear this in my normal Fantasie size. (can't link, at work and IT believes all lingerie sites are porn).

But still, 42? I'm a size 12 and even 34 bras flap around me doing absolutely nothing. Surely 42 would just fall down over your hips?

Lambzig · 10/06/2014 21:20

Went to another debenhams and just can't get this bra to work on me anymore. Tried 30ff, 32 h, 30 g, all wong, wrong, wrong. When I thought I was a 34 d, I bought that and wore it then got bra intervened and know how a bra should fit. A 30 back is just too small, but the 32 feels too loose even on the smallest hooks. I give up.

Hazel will google the fantasie.

42, how would you be that size and 10/12. Do these people own tape measures?

I went to Debenhams yesterday too OP and likewise, couldn't get the Wonderbra one to fit at all. I tried the Debenhams own range (Gorgeous) strapless moulded bra and it was pretty good. I think I might get that.

I was looking at a Fantasie one (Ava) on ebay HazleNutt. Is that the one you have? I've got the Ava bra with straps and I like it so I was thinking of giving the strapless one a go.

I'm now getting a bit obsessed with strapless bras even though I only own about two tops that require a strapless bra...

HazleNutt · 11/06/2014 09:08

Yes, it's the Ava.
