My DS (13) Insists that he must have many pairs of chinos, but he is very overweight for his age and I can't find ANY which fit him, they are all ok for length but none of them will fasten round his waist and some won't even come up past his bottom. Does anybody know where I can get some which might fit ?

My (skinny) ds has always found m&s boys trousers huge on the waist.

Do you know the waist size on them

Sorry, no. But we ordered an age 11 for ds last year and they were about 4 inches too big on the waist.

Wouldn't it be easier to buy men's trousers, Next do them in different fittings?

Maybe, it's hard to find children's pants with a 36" waist

H & M online

They do boys chinos in a plus size fit, so waist will fit and length will also be fine.

Quite good quality and wash well.

You may have to try a menswear dept. I think the maximum a child's pair of trousers can measure on the waist is 28.5 inches. There is not Vat on this size and below. Many menswear depts do 30inch leg lengths.

these are a 36 waist, short. The reviews say not slim fit, so may be ok, and reasonably priced.

I Bought him the Next chino shorts, they're a bit tight and don't allow for much robust movement but he likes them and he's far too lazy for any robust movement anyway ;)
