Fake tan and nails

I have started using a St Tropez gradual tanner. I am using a mitt to apply but somehow it is still discolouring my finger nails. Can anyone advise how to stop this and how to get rid of the current discolourisation.

Thank you.

I don't fake tan but wht about a coat of clear nail varnish before you start applying it?
it would seal your nails and protect them.

Put a plastic glove on underneath the mitt.

I also wrap one of dh's socks around my hand before putting it in the mitt. Dh goes mad when he finds his socks stained with fake tan stuffed down the back of my drawers Grin

As foxy says, a plastic glove would probably work better

Thanks. I hadn't thought about another layer under the mitt!

What about getting rid of the current stains?

Could you have a scrub with a nail brush around the edge of your nails after having a soak in the bath?
Or rub with salt and lemon.

My friend used actual bleach to get it off her hands but I do not recommend that!

How about using an exfoliator body cream? I use that around ankles and knees where I have build up of fake tan.

Ememem84 · 05/06/2014 06:40

Lemon and salt should get it off.

Soak in lemon juice to remove stains.

St tropez do the latex gloves to go under the MIT. The MIT is normally used after to buff off any excess...
