How do you stop your AM jewellery from tarnishing? My small bee tarnished really quickly, and I've just had to clean it using silver dip.

Blush Should I not wear it in the shower then?

Silver just tarnishes.

OuterFromOutersville · 01/06/2014 22:01

Hmm, but I have other silver jewellery that tarnishes much more slowly. And the silver dip says that it might be carcinogenic Confused.

Use toothpaste to clean it instead.

GherkinTheMerkin · 01/06/2014 22:51

I have this necklace with the matching earrings in silver and it's a nightmare to clean!

If it's sterling silver just rub it with a silver cloth

OsloGin · 02/06/2014 10:20

Do the AM gold plated items stand up to use? Was thinking of the small bee as a graduation present for my sister.

dexter73 · 02/06/2014 10:22

I have the bee necklace and it is a PITA as it gets caught on tops/sweaters and snags them so I very rarely wear it.

Bambi75 · 02/06/2014 11:18

The gold plated AM necklaces tarnish very easily too
And go a murky dark bronze colour very quickly. I don't wear my AM necklace anymore because it looks cheap now, a shame considering what I paid for it

OuterFromOutersville · 02/06/2014 18:01

I love my bee, but the tarnishing thing is a pain. I've just used a silver cloth on it, and that seems to have brightened it up.

I was told not to wear it in the shower and not to spray perfume near it. I have had two necklaces for years and they haven't tarnished....

schmalex · 02/06/2014 18:48

My gold plated AM earrings are completely tarnished :(

OuterFromOutersville · 02/06/2014 19:03

Okay, I won't wear it in the shower, or spray perfume on it. Thanks nellie.

The most utterly disappointing jewellery in the world
My bee was a pain and then I was bought a silver bee that tarnished like buggery

I have some of the cougar town stuff from Etsy and it is brilliant

OuterFromOutersville · 02/06/2014 22:12

I am a bit surprised actually - MN raves about it, and I love the look of my bee, but I really don't want to think about cleaning it all the time.

Hmm sounds as though it wouldn't be worth getting the little bee in gold plate.

BeaLola · 03/06/2014 01:08

I bought some silver jewellery from Bill Skinner studio and it has been coated with something that means it doesn not tarnish. He does a bee too.

Bambi75 · 03/06/2014 08:12

AM jewelry looks nice but you can get much better quality jewelry from other designers. I used to be a fan but £100-200 on a necklace which tarnishes so quickly is just throwing money away.

GatoradeMeBitch · 03/06/2014 14:52

Ah. I have been coveting the gold bee necklace for quite a while. I'm wobbling about it now. I hadn't heard about the tarnishing or the snagging!

tackytiger · 03/06/2014 15:35

I've had the bee since last September (worn most days though not in the shower or with perfume) and it's still perfect. It's so lovely, what a shame so many of you have had trouble with them.
