In a moment of madness yesterday, I bought this Reiss jacket. It's gorgeous. A beautiful colour. However I have absolutely no idea how to wear it. Do y

Dammit. Pressed send too soon! Do you think it will go with navy? Black? Trousers or skirts? What colour shoes? I'm a 12 bottom and 14 top if that's any help....5ft 4. Was hoping to wear it for work - I'm pretty senior in a smart / casual place and almost 32 if that makes any difference!

Here's the jacket....please don't laugh!!

I might have also bought the greeny top the model is wearing underneath.....need to hide credit card

I have no idea what that would go with, is it a warm green or a cool green? Hard to tell online, sorry!

seasalty50 · 01/06/2014 17:20

Maybe it's a yellow green in which case the autumn palette would work?

I am afraid only strong colours will look good with this jacket- emerald green tops, orange, turquoise. A white cotton smart vest will also be a safe choice.

It is only for summer, yes? And remember to wear it unbuttoned. Looks better that way.

Might go with white and stone? I think you'd have to try it on with Navy to see.

ShoopShoop · 01/06/2014 17:32

Definitely unbuttoned - totally agree. I was wearing dark navy skinnies yesterday and a white top and I thought it looked ok.....but wondered it it was all too light on top?

It's a hard colour to describe. It's a pale grey green I think. Definitely not mint green - I look dead if I wear that colour.

I hope I can pull it off - it's currently just hanging on the front of my wardrobe mocking me ;)

Avoid skirts.

Go all out summery- green top, mustard or buttercup yellow trousers or pale blue denim. Though I've heard tell coloured trousers are out of fashion. No idea.

Black all over will also look good- black silk shirt, black tuxedo or harem trousers, gold/coppery necklace with this blazer.

Instead of navy, I'd try an indigo inky blue. Maybe linen trousers or skinnies in that colour, a cream or ecru top, with a statement necklace or scarf to pull it together.

Thanks so much for all your suggestions. I tried a few combinations on tonight. I'm liking black ankle grazers, black shell top and the jacket - and I settled on a gold long pendant necklace thing which I think works well.

The silk top underneath in the link I sent is nice too. I tried it on with the jacket and I think it looks too much. But with navy cigarette pants and a navy kimono type thing looks ok I think. More casual than the other combo but at least I feel I've got a couple of "new" outfits.

I discovered an old pair of Berie peep toes which are near as damn it the same colour so that was a stroke of luck!!

Thanks again all
