Does it work on fair hair and fair skin?

Bump

I have one and am fair - I can't honestly say that I have had great results, in fact, I haven't used it for a year. It possibly made my legs sparser but nothing life changing. I wish I had put the £600 towards professional hair removal.

It works best on fair skin and dark hair - it's way less efficient on light hair...

IDugUpADiamond · 02/06/2014 14:06

I am also pale and have fair hair. Recently bought this one
www.amazon.co.uk/Emjoi-AP-9L-Travel-Compact-Epilator/dp/B00008SJXL/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1401714264&sr=8-1&keywords=facial+epilator
and gave myself the most horrendous rash all over my chin area. The skin went angry, red and bumpy. The bumps developed into pus filled spots. They're taking forever to heal and I don't know if I'll end up with scars.

IDugUpADiamond - that's an epilator not an IPL device (which is what the Philips Lumea is...) They work in a completely different way - one uproots the hairs and basically pulls them out, the other uses light therapy to kill off the hair at the follicle so that they shed.

Still, it's helpful to hear you had such an awful experience with the epilator... I find them to be absurdly painful (worse than waxing) and less efficient. Really sorry to hear about your bad experience - I hope you've complained to high heaven with Emjoi/Amazon!

IDugUpADiamond · 02/06/2014 14:12

Hi daisy. I don't think I have reason to complain to be honest. The gadget did what it said on the tin but it was probably too harsh on my skin, I don't know. It was extremely effective and I found the pain bearable. And for that price... I am gutted really.

daisydaisys · 02/06/2014 14:24

Well, it might be worth a try! Either way, I hope your skin gets better soon and that you find a better alternative that doesn't have such horrid side effects!xxx
