I can't believe I never knew about Shellac so now I'm wondering what else is out there that I didn't know about?

applecrumbleandcream · 01/06/2014 03:05

My nails are shit from using Shellac. Would never use it againAngry

PacificDogwood · 01/06/2014 03:10

I don't think it's Shellac that ruins nails; it's picking it off rather than removing it with acetone Blush

FoxyHarlow123 · 01/06/2014 07:06

You're missing out on Footners!

hollyisalovelyname · 01/06/2014 11:23

I didn't pick it iff. I went to a salon to get it removed. It sti wrecjed my nails.

revolutionarytoad · 01/06/2014 11:31

Just discovered an absolute marvel of a hair lotion thingy.....it's called Uniq1 and you rub it in when it's wet.

I used a tiny bit then blowdried and it made my hair look blonder and smoother and swingier. That was yesterday and it still looks good now (I think!). Does reek of coconut though for a bit.

Slightly pricey at about £10 but worth it I reckon.

WildBill · 01/06/2014 12:04

eyelash and eyebrow tinting - Marvelous!

Crutchlow35 · 01/06/2014 13:24

Shellac isn't great. Look for gellish or Jessica gel instead. Make sure you remove them properly or they will knacker your nails. Done properly it wont

tabvase · 01/06/2014 13:31

Aveeno hand cream. For the first time in my life I have long, strong nails! Also nude tights thank you kate middleton my legs look sooo much better and I don't have to faff about with fake tan, exfoliation, leg makeup etc. etc. thank God they're not just for the M&S brigade anymore.

rhubarbcrumbleplease · 01/06/2014 13:47

revolutionary tell us more about your wonder hair product. Why haven't the experts on S&B told us before? Shock

revolutionarytoad · 01/06/2014 14:04

Actually I got the name from MN, I think a couple of years ago perhaps!
It just makes your hair all soft and less frizzy. And also it's a big bottle for how little you need to use each time. Give it a try! I read rave reviews before buying.

rhubarbcrumbleplease · 01/06/2014 14:18

Thanks, I will try it in my quest for amazing hair.

SandorClegane · 01/06/2014 14:32

I don't find shellac knackers my nails, it depends DS how they take it off. The cheaper place near me uses the electric spinny emery thing when they take it off, that knackers your nails. The place next door I use just soak it and scrape it off by hand, nails are fine. Gellish definitely knackered my nails though.

SandorClegane · 01/06/2014 14:32

Random DS in there for some reason.

Elsiequadrille · 02/06/2014 15:41

I have the Uniq1 spray. Revolutionary is right, it's amazing. It's better than anything I've ever used, and is not greasy, just marvellously soft hair. Use with Parlux hairdryer too (but I imagine is great all the same)

fuckadoodledandy · 02/06/2014 19:48

Agree with Sandor... shellac is much better for your nails than gel because they don't have to sand the surface of your nails with shellac. As long as it soaks off properly it's absolutely fine... my nails have been fine and I have a twice monthly manicure with shellac and have done for 2 years! Gel is a horror though. .. Shock

Crutchlow35 · 02/06/2014 19:51

See, I'd say exactly the opposite about shellac. Don't rate it at all. Gel is much better on my nails and I don't have to sand my nails to get it off. A light scuff with a nail file and a few minutes with acetone job done.
