Eyebrow filling in advice please

Hi I've changed from using eyebrow pencil to eyeshadow to fill in my eyebrows. I'm nearer 40 than 30 and they are starting to be a bit patchy.

I've been looking for a Matt brown eyeshadow to use. I don't want a separate brow kit cluttering up my makeup bag & routine. I've got good tweezers already.

I just need a non sparkly matt ash brown with no red tones to it.

The maskcara blog recommends mac Brun eyeshadow, but I don't want to spend lots of dosh.

The only 2 I can find in boots/ superdrug are boots natural collection (too reddy) and superdrug b. eyeshadow. It's better but still a bit too red.

Can anyone advise where else I should look? Or should I just by the mac one?
Thanks!

Makeup revolution do a lot of matte shadows, website online or I think they stock in superdrug

Just looking at their single eyeshadows now. If you click the shade, the pic changes so you can see it properly

I use Bobbi Brown shadow in Cement which is a taupe shade and does well as an eyebrow shadow as well as eye shadow.
I'm fairly blonde-slightly golden hair tone and pale skin.

I use this urban decay box it's amazing.
I know you don't want a kit - but this one is so great and it's very compact. My mum, sister and several friends had to get it after using mine.

It's matt and you can blend the colours to match your brows perfectly. And I've had mine for nearly 2 years - I use it EVERY day and it's only about a third of the way through!

Justgotosleepnow · 31/05/2014 21:40

Thanks I will have a look at makeup revolution. My hair is dark brown, I should have mentioned that.

That kit sounds great, but not really what I'm after, I don't have time to mix up colours every day (hectic 1 yo) so I just need one product to apply & sling back in the makeup bag.

Christian dior do a powder pencil which is amazing. I use the shade marron glacé and it's like using a powder but with control of a pencil. Brows look thick and natural all day.

The urban decay basics eyeshadow palette has fab matte colours that I use for brows. Also superdrug doe a fab brow kit in their MUA brand range, my best friend swears by it.

WhyIRayLiotta · 31/05/2014 23:44

The urban decay box has a brush - it's amazing - I dip it into both colours and do my brows. Takes 30 seconds max.

I've dark brown hair and it's perfect for me. I wear brows slightly darker if I'm going out / wearing more make up or tanned.

www.boots.com/en/Collection-Work-the-Colour-Eyebrow-Kit_1459316/ - I have this kit

fedupworking · 31/05/2014 23:58

I use a pencil (after years of plucking eyebrows are now very sparse) I would love to give this a try, can anyone tell me how to do this

WhyIRayLiotta · 01/06/2014 02:20

fedupworking go into debenhams and have a trial... The urban decay kit costs £19 I swear I don't work for them! but it's worth it. It's VERY easy to use. Takes 5 mins to her used to but lasts ages.

WhyIRayLiotta · 01/06/2014 02:21

GET used to. Sorry new phone. Blush

ZacharyQuack · 01/06/2014 02:26

I use NARS Bali eyeshadow for my brows, it's a lovely cool ashy brown. I think it's very similar to MAC Brun, but might be a bit lighter. TBH I don't think many cheaper brands do single matte eyeshadows. I know MAC and Nars are expensive, but if you bought one of their single shadows and only used it for your brows, it would last for years. Cost-per-wear would be very low. (This is how I justify my expensive makeup habit)

TroyMcClure · 01/06/2014 02:38

Bobbi brown in mahogany

singaporeswing · 01/06/2014 05:41

I have dark dark brown eyebrows and very cool toned skin.

I use Bobbi Brown Grey. It's perfect shade, very matte and more taupe than grey. It suits me perfectly.

I also do wedding makeup in my spare time and have used it on about 6 Different brides this year, all with differing colouring and it is just brilliant.

Virgolia · 01/06/2014 05:49

HD Brow kit is my absolute favourite.

TartanRug · 01/06/2014 06:59

I have the urban decay one too and would never use anything else now. I tried every pencil and eyeshadow until this was recommended to me and it's worth every penny. Takes seconds once you've done it a couple of times.

Justgotosleepnow · 01/06/2014 10:01

Zachary that's now what I'm thinking- it will last ages, and it's powder so it won't go off.
Singapore thanks I will check out that shade.
I just don't want a kit, I only need 1 shade and I have a great angled brush that works very well.

For the poster asking how to do brows with shadow- I learnt from the maskcara blog, I was using pencil before. But now looking back at photos I think my brows were too thin & dark looking. Slightly more natural and filling with powder improves my look a lot!
