I'm 2 weeks post birth and I'm not back in my trousers but my maternity stuff is falling off me.

So what does everyone do?

I was thinking perhaps some nice harem style trousers. If I can pull them off, that is. I've never worn them before and loads of my glam friends look great in them but I don't wear make up so I wonder if I'd look like I was in my pjs and ready for bed!

I'm a 6/8 pre pregnancy size and rather disproportionately large of bum compared to my legs!

Any ideas gratefully received!

I wore leggings and long tops for a while. Also bought an interim pair of jeans from next high waisted to pull in the scary tummy.

littlegreengloworm · 30/05/2014 16:39

I just wore them for a few weeks longer then bought stretchy trousers in normal size

Harem trousers sound ideal. Also H&m do some loose style trousers that look great.

Mynewone · 30/05/2014 16:53

Leggings/jeggings for while here too

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 30/05/2014 19:02

I don't look good in leggings - knobbly knees! So I daren't do the leggings/tunic thing as much as I would like to.

Does anyone have any linkys for nice harems? I saw some in an email from next a couple of months ago but I don't know if I'll be able to find them online, must look.

Any other ideas gratefully received!

Oh yes I forgot high waisted! I had a fab pair first time round and I got back into them fairly quickly as they could squash my tummy in! Thanks for reminding me justgotosleepnow.

Next harem pants.

strawberryjam · 31/05/2014 07:57

I am wearing the next harem pants at 34w under the bump I will continue to wear post birth just sat on the waist where they are supposed to be!

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 31/05/2014 15:01

They are the comfiest things ever and I'm neither pregnant nor post-natal. Look great with a vest top and flip flops/sandals.

Oly4 · 31/05/2014 22:19

I am six weeks post birth and wearing maxi skirts with elastic aged waistband and also harem trousers from m&s. Very comfy for £18, they come in black and are under beachwear in my local store though are more everyday in my opinion. They also have them online. Next also have fab chinos at £20 a pair that I've bought in bigger sizes. Will be a few months before I'm back in my size 12s again!

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 02/06/2014 12:05

Thanks Oly4 I will have a look on M&S website

What do you wear on your feet with harem trousers please? I am currently existing in a pair of blue sling back shoe type crocs as I don't have any flats. Would that look awful? Yes it would. Shoe suggestions?? Flip flops ok? If it's a bit colder or raining what should I wear?

I wear harems with flip flops or skate shoes (a bit like daps from school pe classes)

Hopefully · 02/06/2014 12:35

Oh, and I have been wearing tube skirts a lot with trainers too, as an alternative to leggings/harems. Was painful exposing ghostly white legs the first couple of times, but I have a little bit of colour now and look more human!

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 02/06/2014 17:13

Hmm, as long as my knees were covered! I have a few skirts that fit but it's the white legs that bother me too!

I wear flip flops with harems and ballet shoes when the weather is cooler. Same with stretchy maxi skirts. I just bought a stretch jersey one from crew clothing in my usual size 12. It looks good on me with a long vest at the moment - and I'll still be able to wear it when I'm back at my usual size 12 (but it will look better!). I hate this in between clothes stage.... But worth it for gorgeous offspring

nilbyname · 04/06/2014 16:27

I think metallic pointy flats or leather flip flop type sandles look good with harems. Vans do too.

Wear with a smarter top to avoid the pyjama look. Harem pants an a silk/viscose panelled top, some nice jewllery, a longer line fine pendant, Stella and dot are good for those.

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 05/06/2014 05:51

The Marks ones look really short in the model picture. I'm not tall, 5'6" but shouldn't they come a bit lower than that?

Yes, tops are also a problem in my wardrobe, eg I don't have any! I'm surviving with a few tshirts at the moment. I'm honestly not sure how my clothes got to be like this. I don't remember throwing things away but I must have done!

I am 5ft 5 and the length is good on me. I am wearing them with vests, flip flops and neat cardis

Oly4 · 05/06/2014 13:36

Ps they are definitely not ankle length, more cropped length. They are flattering on me though and enormously comfy

thestylethatdecadesforgot · 08/06/2014 03:04

Thanks Oly4. I think I will go and have a look in the morning and try some on. Will update!
