Shapewear that doesn't give you a muffin top - does it exist?

I'm a lumpy size 12, 5ft6. I need something to smooth out the baby belly under an evening gown but won't just push it upwards with un unnatural bulge at rib height, emphasising the back fat. Blush

Any advice or recommendations? Or is shapewear just a big con?

Thanks.

You needs shape wear slip. I got mine in debenhams. It has bra straps, sits under your boobs (so you can wear and normal bra and is like a really long vest, so finishes just under your bum. No muffin top!

Thanks iliketea. I've just googled it, does the slip roll up or do you feel you have to yank it down the whole time?? Also what do you wear if it's a strapless dress?

I find dresses squash my boobs ( they are quite big though Blush) I swear by spanx higher power pants they are long shorts that go right up to your bra they are fab!

Marks and Spencer do some long waisted tights that smooth everything beautifully.

Make sure you are in the right size bra (worn low) to eliminate back fat.

Shapewear is bloody hot and constricting IMHO

iliketea I have one of those, they are fab, give a really smooth shape, fantastic under dresses.

The spanx mid- thigh body suit is good too, like pregnantagain says they go right up to your bra (I tuck them under) and then right down to mid thigh (Er ... Like it says Smile )

I don't find my slip rolls at all, doesn't work under a strapless dress, but because it sits under your bra, you don't get that squashed boob feeling, and because it's a slip it can come up for loo trips, rather than trying to work out how to go the loo in one that is a body suit with pants attached without having taking your dress off Blush

Iliketea thanks for your recommendation. Just received my shape wear slip in the post and it certainly does the business. I wish I had one before now!
