Apple quiche anyone?

Copying the Pear Quiche and following on from my excellent previous thread about body shape epiphany, I thought we luscious apples might like a summer thread too?

After I realised that I just don't suit shorts I went on a dress search. For my holibags, I am now in possession of several very flattering dresses. Unfortunately not natural fabrics, but on the good side they were cheap, can be rolled up without creasing and hang really nicely in the right places for my belly.
Here are 2 of them.

Oh yes, juicy apple here too

My latest love is with these Next tops, I refused to try anything in this neoprene type fabric until I read in Red magazine that it doesn't cling. Finding tops that don't highlight my squishy middle is my life's work. These are amazing. So flattering, dry in fifteen minutes, don't need ironed. I have three so far

gilly I like the look of those. Is the length as good as it looks in the pic?

Love the dark floral one, where is it from?

Gillybobs · 27/05/2014 14:41

I'm 5'7" and it's a good length on me, tummy concealing for sure!

WildThong · 27/05/2014 14:54

Tkmaxx online plus

Thanks gilly I've ordered a cream one.

Other things I've found that work are Boden trousers. Both the bistro crops and Chelsea trouser great for apples

I'm an apple and my new return to work post maternity leave wardrobe is crying out for some tops like those Next ones. Slim legged crops work really well on me but they need a boxy top.

Have any fellow apples managed to make harem pants work? I picked up a black pair of the Next ones and am struggling with them. Maybe the Next tops Gilly linked too are the answer there too. Avril at schoolgatestyle has blogged about styling harems but she's not a 5ft 3 14/16 apple like me..

WildThong · 29/05/2014 00:29

I got black harems from New Look. They are quite fitted through the waist and bum with slim legs so don't add bulk.
Also agree about the ankle skimmer trousers. I just bought lovely Dickens and Jones navy ones today with a matching cardie, bargains in the sale at HoF.

I've got a couple of pairs of the next harems. To be honest I wore them a couple of times on holiday (UK) in feb and now they are relegated to wearing at home only. They look ok, just not confident enough to wear them out. They're also quite warm so when it's sunny I prefer to wear shorts (one of the blessings of being an apple)

Slim crops really suit me too, but always with a boxy top. Have just bought a striped boat neck from Jonnie B which is lovely, boxy with 3 quarter length sleeves. I'm a 12/14 on top and got the largest size which fits fine.

On a desperate mission to loose a bit of weight though, anything I put on goes straight to my tummy and nothing fits well very quickly. Have put on about half a stone recently through poor eating and long commutes.

rockybalboa · 29/05/2014 10:16

Oooh Bill I've never thought to look at the Johnnie B stuff as I'm also a 12/14 in Boden tops (probably a 14 really if I'm honest and until I lose some weight). I will check it out.

I've just ordered patterned trousers from TK Maxx, fingers crossed they look ok on. I like the wee pink bits.

Hello... Bumping this thread in thanks... Just bought the Dickens and Jones trousers from HoF and the top from Next. It's sometimes hard being an apple!
