Day at the Races .... what if it rains?

Having a day out at the Races in a couple of weeks with DH and some of his friends and their wives ( who I don't know very well).
Was planning on wearing a purple Phase Eight maxi dress with big red flowers on, with flat sandals and a red bag, but showed DH today and he was worried I'd be freezing if it is cold or it rains. We are in a grandstand but what do you wear with a maxi dress to be a little warmer or if it's wet? A jacket doesn't look right.

Your advise please oh wise mumsnet! Smile

Chocolate - choose an outfit that can be worn with a jacket/coat or without one. It can be cold in June and if you aren't adequately wrapped up it will ruin your day. If it's hot you can leave your jacket at home or in the car. Also, I don't recommend wearing suede shoes - you may be walking on grass and if it's at all wet it will spoil them. I am speaking from experience!
Have a great day.

Thank you. Oh the suede warning is useful. Suede peep toe wedges were my other option - maybe wellies should go in the car too!!
