Mad Men-style blusher

Most frequently seen on Joan, but I've uploaded a pic of Betty Draper with the kind of blusher look I love. Any ideas how to get it? It's that pretty soft true pinky flush (as opposed to anything contoury and powdery).

I have a theory that the MUAs on Mad Men just actually use the same shade of lipstick the character is wearing on their cheeks, maybe mixed with a little bit of cream. Or is there some wonder product I'm missing? I currently use Max Factor cream blush and have used Benetint in the past but neither have been quite right.

I was about to recommend Bobbi Brown's sheer color cheek tint but when I went to get a link I found they've discontinued it. Argh! Why do places keep discontinuing perfect products.

I think they've replaced it with their 'pot rouge'.

Anyway Bobbi Brown does still do this which looks scarily bright in the pan but goes on a gorgeous natural flush shade of pink.

If you do find a cream blush that you like, try applying it with a stippling brush. It gives a really even and natural finish. The Real Techniques one is perfect for this.

The BB link didn't save the colour I meant. It's the Pale Pink shade.

I would still rec you try the Bobbi Brown cream blushers. I'm guessing they'll be the same formula or better. A bright pink is the one to go for. (I'm assuming your pale skin toned like MM pics you've posted.)

Ooh thanks! That looks lovely. I've heard good things about bobbi brown blushers. Never heard the stippling brush tip-must try that. And yep, I'm cool and pale.
