I've booked the hairdresser for tomorrow and I've no idea what to go for. I'm a brunette in her 30s. I used to have waist length hair and only felt brave enough to cut it a couple of years ago. Since then I've had it below shoulder length with lots of layers. I had a swept across fringe for a while but have now grown it out.

I've let it get quite long again but it needs a good couple of inches taking off. My hair is quite thick and completely straight so I always feel it's lacking in a bit of style. A bit of me would like to go for something really different but I don't think I'm that brave. Can anyone recommend a nice style that might make me feel like me but with a bit more oomph?

A fringe is a good way to get a big change that's easy to grow out if you don't like it, this pic has the hair layered too but still v. straight. If you want something more extreme this Katie Holmes style sounds like it might suit your hair type?

Your hair sounds the same as mine. Pay next cut is mid June and I am looking at a longer graduated bob.
