On Thursday I am going to a formal sit down dinner/award ceremony with my new boyfriend of 5 months.

I need a dress. I'm not at all sure how formal to go! I don't think it is a full length/ball gown situation. I think we (26 and 27) will be the youngest people there by a good few years. All the men will be wearing suits. BF can't really remember what the women wore last year... Hmm

I am 5'2, size 12 with average cleavage. I suit skater dress styles. I like/suit blue, green and patterns. Don't like anything too girly, more a 'bold'' style. Would like to spend

I'd always go more formal than less - and if most of the people there are older, it's less likely there will be lots of others in short funky dresses do you might stand out for the wrong reasons.

If he's certain it's not a formal ball gown event, I'd go for a classic cocktail dress. If you don't have one already, see it as an investment...!

That Biba one is gorgeous.

What a fabulous list! I like all of them! You should consider personnel shopping as a career FauxFox. I've ordered the first and the blue chiffon, thank you so much. Will probably wear the blue to the event, I just liked the patterned one too! The coast dress is gorgeous too but just too pricey!

I agree Familiessharegerms, I'd rather go formal and slightly plain as this is my first time attending, I might be more daring if there's a next time!
