Looking for a slightly sweet one for every day use. Not overpowering, just gentle, not expensive, not sickly sweet.

I've tried asking in Boots, but they weren't very helpful. I don't get to a large branch often so prefer to buy suggestions and then buy samples on ebay.

M&S Simply Pearl or Vintage Love. M&S has a really good perfume range now - also try the violet or cherry blossom ones by one of the new brands, forget the name but it's in an old-fashioned perfume bottle with a pump.

kazzawazzawoo · 25/05/2014 10:26

Thanks. I'll try them next time I'm in town.

Just been looking on the M&S website, surprised at the cost of the Simply Pearl and Vintage Love perfumes. It'll be ages before I get into town to try one, but they don't seem to do samples Sad

What about body shop? I used to buy a lovely one in there but can't remember what it was called.

kazzawazzawoo · 25/05/2014 16:38

I've had White Musk from there before and my dd had Love Etc I think it was called, but I'm not keen on either of them now.

All we have in our local town in Boots and Superdrug Sad

Next and River Island are worth a look/sniff.

canny1234 · 25/05/2014 17:02

Boots have some summer versions of certain scents in now- on special offer.Paris Roses smells wonderful if you enjoy rose scents and is £29 or thereabouts. Also Eternity summer was a real beachy scent and there were some others too.

MyrtleDove · 25/05/2014 17:47

Well, Simply Pearl and Vintage Love are £7 for 30ml and £16 for 100ml/90ml - that's incredibly, incredibly cheap for actual perfume, it's not body spray. M&S does other fragrances in a smaller size for about £3, I know the Per Una Originale comes in that size and is pretty nice though more floral than sweet. If you've only got Boots and Superdrug in your local town then maybe try the Yardley perfumes in Boots? They have some new ones. Yardley perfumes are around £6 or so. Diamond and Polaire sound nice.

Body Shop have some nice new fragrances but they're going to be more expensive than M&S. What's your budget? Maybe try Avon? I don't use Avon fragrances so can't help but maybe look them up on Fragrantica? I know you can buy bags of Avon samples on ebay so that might be a good idea. Maybe try the Suddenly Madame Glamour from Lidl?

dingit · 25/05/2014 17:49

I like the accessorise ones.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 25/05/2014 17:49

Avon or next. The next New York/Paris ones are nice and not too overpowering.

kazzawazzawoo · 25/05/2014 18:40

Thanks for the suggestions. I wish it was easier to get to m&s as they are very reasonably priced and I would love to try them both.

Which of the Next scents are quite sweet? Sour citrussy perfumes don't suit me.

squoosh · 25/05/2014 18:48

SJP's Lovely is pretty cheap and gorgeous for a celeb perfume. Quite powdery.

Twinklestein · 25/05/2014 19:14

Roger & Gallet do some great value perfumes, M&S stock some.

Milmingebag · 25/05/2014 22:36

NEXT Adore is supposed to be close to Jimmy Choo and is a very sweet floral.

NEXT Nude is a lovely powdery floral and is supposed to be similar to one by Chanel.

Milmingebag · 25/05/2014 22:38

M&S do one called Ruby Elixir which is a punchy, lasting fruity floral and is lovely.

MyrtleDove · 25/05/2014 23:28

Do Next still do Just Pink? That's a nice sweet, fresh floral. It's not sour but it's not sickly either. Paradise is also sweet.

MairzyDoats · 25/05/2014 23:58

Which ones last? Can you still smell them after an hour?

hashtagwhatever · 26/05/2014 00:11

Britney Spears fantasy the 1st one in the pink bottle!. Smells like candyfloss real sweet and usually around £18 for a decent ml.

Another is the Holister perfume think it costs £12 lasts all day. Not sure if its to teenage girly?. Smells just like the Holister shop does.

KoalaDownUnder · 26/05/2014 11:13

Sarah Jessica Parker's 'Lovely' fits your description, I think..

It's not as inexpensive as some of the other recommendations, but you can usually pick it up pretty cheaply compared to other name-brand perfumes.

JamJimJam · 26/05/2014 15:52

Eau Dynamisante by Clarins?

Very light, very lovely and inexpensive.

capsium · 26/05/2014 15:59

If you don't mind perfumes that have been around for a while Savers have some real bargains. I got my mum a massive bottle of Sunflowers by Elizabeth Arden for only £10, late last year. Some supermarkets, such as Morrisons also have cut price perfumes.

kazzawazzawoo · 26/05/2014 16:01

I've tried Eau Dynamisante but don't like it at all, it's herby rather than sweet.

I'm going to try Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker.

YY to Morrisons - noticed they have 'Sun Moon and Stars' for £7 - used to love that so am picking up a bottle at my next shop!

The Next Just Pink is v nice too - agree is more floral than sweet. Also not sure if the Kate Moss one was mentioned up thread but that might be worth a try. Boots and others have it at a good price and is very floral and light. The Victoria Beckham original perfume is very floral and pleasant and cheap on Amazon if you can find a tester somewhere. I really like SJP 'Lovely' too as suggested up thread.

Agree too about M&S although frustrating if you can't get there to try any out. The Per Una range are very nice although I don't find they last long on me. Good for work for that reason though!

AuntieBrenda · 26/05/2014 20:01

I have just bought a Katie price fragrance after smelling it on a colleague. It's pink and I got it from eBay for about £7. It's called Stunning. Honestly, it's very fresh, light and summery and quite sweet. I'm pg and I've gone off all my usually scents and I love this one. Cheap as chips so if I go off this, I won't regret the purchase. Try it - it's honestly very nice!

kazzawazzawoo · 26/05/2014 20:37

I used to love Sun Moon and Stars when I was younger but bought a bottle a few years ago and found it too ... hippy?

I was given Flowerbomb last year, but it's way too strong for daytime use.

I have a tiny Kate Moss sample that I've got from somewhere and it is quite nice.
