Affordable scent?

I know perfume is a very personal thing but can anyone recommend an affordable everyday scent? At the moment I have about an inch of Chanel Chance left and am eking it out, thing is I do like to wear some kind of scent most days but don't particularly want to fork out £50 for a bottle of perfume.... And a long time till my birthday! I like light scents, lemony, grassy, not too floral....any ideas?

the perfume range from Next is good and quite similar to a lot of brands
the just pink perfume is very similar to ralph lauren romance - am not sure about the others

might be worth having a look there

I wear Chanel Mademoiselle, and recently a friend of mine started to wear it .. Well, I thought she did. Until she told me it was 'Suddenly' by Lidl. Cost her £2.99 and smells EXACTLY the same! I couldn't tell the difference.

CK or Paul Smith ones can often be fond quite cheap.

goodasitgets · 23/05/2014 16:59

Tous h2o
DKNY original (tall bottle)
M&S do one, azure blue maybe? That's nice

IrianofWay · 23/05/2014 16:59

I have had a few Paul Smith perfumes and I like them. Cheaper than some I beleive.

francesthebadger · 23/05/2014 17:42

The Lyn Miller (of Miller Harris fame) fragrance range at M&S is an absolute steal at the moment - half price across the board (think they are discontinuing as it doesn't seem to be available online any more?). Le Cologne is citrussy and la Rose is a green grassy rose. You need an M&S branch with the souped-up beauty hall range.

ihatethecold · 23/05/2014 17:57

Clarins. Love their scents.
They are very reasonable about £22 per bottle

ThePerfectNegroni · 23/05/2014 18:00

I wear Sarah Jessica Parker lovely for work. Would never normally go for a celeb scent but this is great. I paid about £20 online for a 100ml tester bottle.

BumWad · 23/05/2014 18:02

Escada is reasonably priced and have great scents.

Just bought born in paradise very summery

ThatBloodyWoman · 23/05/2014 18:03

I buy perfume oils, such as jasmine or ylang-ylang.

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 23/05/2014 18:07

Look on here - lots of nice perfumes - "proper" ones, for a good price.

AvonCallingBarksdale · 23/05/2014 18:10

CKOne, CKBe, CKIntoYou (or something like that). All nice nad not too pricey

SheherazadeSchadenfreude · 23/05/2014 18:23

On Allbeauty, I would recommend Cabotine, which is a classic, and should fit with what you like. I think it's about £8. Smile

Super drug have some good offers on at the mo.

Versace red jeans (forgot how nice it is) is £12 and lanvin perfume is £18

Sjp's twilight - based on lovely is great too. Get it on all beauty for about a tenner

Try shops like Gap or H&M or similar. They do body spray type perfume which is quite cheap.

Belshels · 23/05/2014 18:45

Paul Smith Rose, I love it. Cheap on ebay

MelanieCheeks · 23/05/2014 18:47

Suddenly madame Glamour for me.
Also recommend the Clarins scents - my fave is the blue Eau ressouracante one.

SuperFlyHigh · 23/05/2014 18:48

I agree with BumWad - Escada perfumes are great they often do limited editions and very summery. Good prices and last well too.

Look in Superdrug and Boots has a 25% offer on on summer fragrance right now:-

Escada tend to do fruity florals though, not green scents. Clarins fragrances are nice but don't last (they're not supposed to!). H&M type body sprays are nice but not really perfume.

Unfortunately OP green fragrances are a bit tricky to find outside of more expensive brands (so many fruity florals!) however M&S has a very good range. Azure Blue is a dupe for D&G Light Blue (citrussy) and you might like the Vetiver Bourbon from the Monotheme range - it's a grassy type smell and is officially a male one but is really unisex. I would definitely find an M&S with a larger beauty hall and have a sniff round everything - you'd probably like Citron by Roger & Gallet and Crabtree & Evelyn Verbena/Somerset Meadow.

Yves Rocher (online) has some nice fresh fragrances, mostly unisex. The L'Occitane website has their Green Tea solid perfume for £8. Elizabeth Arden Green Tea is very affordable and sharp and fresh.

4711 Cologne Water (in the blue and gold bottles) is super cheap and in every pharmacy pretty much, but really fresh and sharp. It doesn't last so you'd need to reapply but would be lovely for hot weather.

happystory · 23/05/2014 19:25

Thanks to everyone, I do have a marks with a beauty hall nearby and will check out the other suggestions, I think I have got in a rut with thinking fragrance has to be perfume, but I certainly didn't do that when I was younger and poorer! Will report back after shopping trip!

I buy shed loads of perfume on ebay. Bottles people have been given as gifts or bought and don't like. Some bottles have had a couple of squirts and some are brand new. I've got all sorts between me and the teenage DD.

happystory · 24/05/2014 20:16

Myrtle, you were right about the azure blue, bought it today, £16 for 100ml, I love it!
