So I'm two months in to going grey... help!

I'm naturally mid brown (as far as I can tell..haven't seen my natural hair since I was about 18!) and decided I'd like to see what my hair is really like!

I knew I had a white streak at the parting but have been surprised at how much there is ..under the top there is a lot of grey and a lot of random grey hairsthroughout. The white at the front I quite like... but,...

I'm 46 but allegedly look younger according to my kids' friends. I am dreading the growing out phase now that I can see a significant amount. Am I going to just look old? Should I wait til there is a LOT of white? Should I re dye?

My usual line of atatck is.. hair colour (at the salon). No matter what I say it comes out a bit too dark..so hate it. Then two weeks later it is perfect. Then a week later I can see roots. Then 4 weeks after that I re colour it at great expense.

My new hair growth feels SO much softer and nicer than the coloured hair. But how do I survive the next year (I have a shortish layered bob) without feeling hideous?!

I'm debating this at the moment having coloured my hair since I was 28 (I'm not 50). I was talking to my hairdresser and she said it can be done over a number of months where they gradually lighten the colour you put on your her until it starts to blend in with the grey (not exactly sure how) but she says she done it a few times for women (who sometimes then go back to their original coloured colour because they don't like being grey! May be worth seeing what your own hairdresser says and putting up with having a coloured for a few more months to save having the dreaded 'line'.

I've done what crafty described - gradually gone lighter and lighter so the grey "tide mark" is less noticeable. It's taken me a year and four months but I now have a 100% platinum white/grey chin length bob.

You can see some of the steps on my profile. Not yet uploaded the latest though.

I occasionally panic when I look in the mirror and see grey hair. Ultimately, I am having to face the fact that I am ageing (I'm 52) and dyeing my hair is not going to hide that fact.

On the plus side, my skin looks the best it has in a long time because my hair now matches my skin tone.
