Jersey blazer for big boobs?

CambridgeBlue · 22/05/2014 13:32

A jersey blazer would fill so many holes in my wardrobe but all those I try seem to be designed with one button mid way down so they gape horribly over my 34FFs. Any idea for where I might get a more flattering style?

I usually get blazers from pepperberry.

pinkpeoniesx · 22/05/2014 17:33

Do you want to be able to fasten it?
I'm usually a 32 H and I always size down in blazers/ denim jacket etc. it's much more flattering when it's a smaller fit on my shoulders and stops me looking so bulky. I've got a high small waist and wider hips so I look like a tree trunk if I'm not careful!!Grin it does mean it's not so easy to fasten but I never do with jackets anyway.

cocoblu · 22/05/2014 17:39

im a 32f ao I know where your coming from! I bought a grey marl jersey one from Uniqlo ans its been a really great buy, if thonk they have other colours on their website so definitely worth a look

CambridgeBlue · 22/05/2014 18:38

I have seen some I like in Uniqlo before, just a pity they're London only as it's a pain having to guess what size I need before ordering.

I do want to fasten it really because my waist is smallish so it's more flattering - with an open jacket I tend to look a bit shapeless.

Try Sainsburys, I got one there last year and it's very flattering. I'm a 32G and conscious of bringing my waist in so I look shapely and not just top heavy. It's surprisingly good material and was only about £25.

EduardoBarcelona · 22/05/2014 20:15

go on shopstyle.co.uk and do a search

EduardoBarcelona · 22/05/2014 20:16

or .com!

Chopsypie · 22/05/2014 20:46

I got one from h&m. But I suspect that's because their sizing is atrociously random, rather than purposefully cut for those large of nork

CambridgeBlue · 23/05/2014 06:55

I was hopeful about Sainsburys but our local one didn't have any. I find H&M so random in general that it's very hard to shop in.

I've never found an unstructured one that works for boobs although there is one without buttons in h and m that works

AngelsWithSilverWings · 23/05/2014 08:16

I'm the same size as you OP and I've yet to find a perfect one. I do have an H&M one I bought a few years ago but the material is a bit heavy and thick.

I've never found a Pepperberry one that works either. They make me look even bigger on top than I already am.

This in Small gets over my 30FFs as its a kind of structured cardigan. Colours no good for me though

noddyholder · 23/05/2014 08:35

tablet.hm.com/gb/product/26146?article=26146-B this is actually lovely on you need a small size though but it skims boobs and goes with everything

Gillybobs · 23/05/2014 08:38

I find a jersey biker jacket works infinitely better on me than a blazer shape, so much more forgiving on the busty. I have given up on the traditional blazer now, I buy jersey bikers for casual and tailored fabric biker shape for work.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 23/05/2014 08:39

I'm a30gg and have been wearing a navy Whistles one to death (sorry no time to do a link). Bought it last spring but they're still selling it (in grey as well I think).

I also have the grey marl Uniqlo one but find it a bit boxy and not so flattering.

Esprit sometimes do them as well.

EduardoBarcelona · 23/05/2014 11:05

I tried noddys. Liked but def size down. Made me look huge

noddyholder · 23/05/2014 11:46

Yes small size best. I find the curved front slimming but in my normal size it was huge!

NumptyNu · 23/05/2014 12:02

Have you tried leaving it open?

I have similar probs, but now tend to wear a pretty top underneath and leave the jacket open.

CambridgeBlue · 23/05/2014 13:49

The Uniqlo one VarsityQueen linked to is the one I've been looking at - I will be in London next week so might try and find a store so I can see how it looks on.

Gillybobs I have got a jersey biker and it's really flattering, maybe I just need to accept blazers don't work but they are touted as a must-have-go-with-everything 'piece' so I keep thinking I need one and how well it would work with all my other clothes.

Leaving the jacket open just doesn't work for me, I need fitted and flattering. The H&M one would make me look really shapeless I think.

I think jersey only works with smaller boobs as anything which stretches the fabric makes it look scruffy very quickly.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 23/05/2014 15:02

This is the Whistles one - still going strong a year later.

CambridgeBlue · 23/05/2014 18:57

That Whistles one is very nice, I am tempted but it's a bit out of my price range.
