Getting rings off swollen fingers.....

Hello,
I put on 2 rings I haven't worn for a while, they were sized for me ages ago though having put on a few pounds since then I had to push a bit harder to get them on thinking well if they'll go on, they'll come off - wrong!
My fingers swollen and they won't budge. I've tried all the tricks on the internet - grease, windex, dental floss, cold water...my fingers now sore. I slept with my hand up last night to aid the swelling bit it's still puffy this morning. Is getting them cut off at the jewellers my only option? Is it worth leaving it a day or 2 to see if the swelling goes down further? They are both good quality old rings and I don't want to wreck them.......Sad

Cool water and lots of soap? A bar of soap works better than liquid stuff. I feel your pain-this happened to me with my wedding ring last time I was pregnant. It did eventually come off.

Yy to cold water put your hand in the basin for a few mins.
Then soap, washing up liquid, oil and hopefully it should come off.
This hot weather doesnt help.

There is a trick with thread where you wind thread over your finger above the ring and ease it off. I am hoping someone will come along and tell you in a minute as they did for me when my wedding ring stuck on a few years ago, as I can't remember the details save that it is said to be uncomfortable and I was glad not to have to do it.
If you can bear it, give it a day or so as its supposed to get cooler, which will help too

There is a clip on YouTube that shows a doctor taking someone rings off with elastic I think. I will see if I can find it!

Ok I can't work out how to share the YouTube link but if you go into YouTube and type in 'a good method to remove a ring from a swollen finger' and there is a video with some doctors and nurses that talks you through the whole thing. It looks ace!

Good luck. I had a ring I couldn't get off for years till I gave up sugar and lost weight!

Thanks all,
I've tried all the above and more with no luck, finger is very sore now so it's off to the jeweller today to get them cut off and repaired.
