Brown leather sofas..........

We've found some lovely old, worn in, soft brown leather sofas in a local antique shop. They aren't actually antique, or chesterfields, just good quality and a bit rustic.

Would they still be considered naff in the world of mumsnet?

I wouldn't give a fuck if I was the only person in the world that still liked them. I've loved a particular style of brown leather sofa for donkeys years and finally got my sofas two years ago. They are, imo, utterly gorgeous and I love them. They're also wipe clean and very very comfortable, so sod anyone who thinks they're naff, my eyes and arse are happy :)

I still love mine I dont care if mn hates them, I only have one the other two are velvet so its not leather overkill.

I've got them too and being very un Mnetty one is from Ikea and the other is from DFS. But I love them, so who cares.

I want a brown leather sofa. Our current sofas are 8years old and haven't faired well against a reflux baby, then toilet training toddler. They were once beautiful but now a source of embarrassment - browneather would be much easier to keep.

I have no idea why they're considered so naff...what would be the non-naff alternative?

I think it's all in the shape of the sofa, and the way the rest of the room is furnished & decorated. My friends have a big new soft squishy brown sofa, buttery soft leather in a classic style, and I am green with envy.
